Round 1: Guy with Final Attack Orders Deck

This first one went back and forth. I remember using Don to keep his hand down and him topdecking Goblin to kill him. That worked until I brought out Blade Knight and set my traps I waited to use. Brought out another Don. Used Drop Off. Used another one. He was topdecking the last two turns, ouch. GG.

The second match didn't go so well. I used some of my options too early and found myself with nothing but Don and Serpent after a very unexpected Heavy storm and slamming my 1st Don into Goblin Attack Force that switched to attack Mode again via Final Attack Orders, bleh. It ended up coming down to his Spear Dragon staying in attack mode after hitting my serpent against my next draw. My premature Burial did me no good at the moment, my strongest monster in the graveyard was breaker. I draw Blade Knight and sigh relief when I realize I had him. Summoned Blade Knight, activated Premy, used BK to kill SP Dragon, attacked with 1600 Breaker for game, me 3200, him 1200 to 0.

Round 2: Guy with Grave Keeper Deck.

Don't have much to say here...he ran a good deck. Unfortunately for him, I drew all 3 Dust Tornadoes opening hand and Blade Knights. I just kept Necrovalley off the field and Beat him down with BK's. Really good card draw on my part.

The second one was even worse for him. He drew really bad, mostly tribs, and I had 2 Dons, 2 Drop Off, and Breaker. I don't have to say much more...he didn't end up getting to use any of his cards before he ran out of LP. I felt bad...he played good. Just wasn't his day I guess.

Round 3: Brad the resident Gravekeeper from my store.

Now I felt good. I was finally playing someone I knew. Brad is from my local tourney store, and he runs a gravekeeper. He runs a pretty good one too...but it has room for improvement. We are working on that now...but that's another subject. The first one started out really good. I had Pot, Painful, Jinzo, Change of Heart, and Heavy Storm. With that hand, I was in amazing shape. I just used my resources wisely and ended up using Jinzo against him as he topdecked. Nice win for me.

The second one is bleh, I draw bad and he knows it, lol. He's used to seeing my patterns when I draw crap and knows to hit me hard. And he does...with Chief, Spear Soldier, and Assialant all against my serpent...ouch. This one was a lost cause, lol.

The third one was much easier than it had to be. There was a VERY big mistake on his part. He went first and set a monster, 2 traps, and DIDN'T activate his Necrovalley. I use Pot, Painful, and get 2 lights, Jinzo, Don, and Serpent. He gives me Serpent. I premature Jinzo, Summon Luster, Norm summon Blade Knight, and Change of Heart his Mystic Tomato. Game right there. 8800 in one shot. He should have used Necro and I would have had to wait and destroy it before I could do that. He would have lasted alot longer, but judging by our future draws, my options were better and the outcome would have most likely deemed me the winner regardless. Good Game Brad, you've come a long way.

Round 4: Mr. Undefeated Lucky Guy

This match seemed as cheesy to me as the smile on a used car salesman. I don't know exactly if any underhanded tactics were used or if he just had uncanny luck, but both rounds he got Pot, Painful, Jinzo, Conf, and TF Sentry. Just a little too convenient for my tatse. I get good hands, I won't deny, but the exact same hand twice in a row? Followed by 3 magicans of faith BOTH times? Anyone else think that smells a little funny? Anyway, He depletes my options repeatedly with prenegators and faiths. I come back strong and get him topdecking. He topdecks Luster :P. I have serpent. I draw MST. I draw Dust Tornado. Yeah, I lost the topdeck war with Luster. Is anyone surprised? Although I was sure I dropped it off mid-game...like I said, I dunno and I'm not one to make allogations I'm not 100% sure of. My memory is horrible so bear with me on this report, lol.

Round 2 was exactly the same...execpt I came back and was owning him. I had victory in sight, his 1200 to my 6000, he was about to deck. Suddenly he uses Call of the Haunted on the Jinzo my Don Dropped earlier. I told him he already lost that card to Confiscation. He told me that I didn't Conf it I sent it back with the sentry I used. I'm sure I told him to send it to his GY, not deck, but my memory is bad and I was really tired and feeling sick and surrounded by smelly people. So I just let it go and try to draw a monster to go with my 3 trap cards, none of which were dust tornado by the way. I don't get a monster for 3 turns...but I did get my dust tornado...actually, 2 and a Mstical Space Typhoon...bleh. He took that one...but it was either really good luck for him and bad for me...or there were "other things" going on. Either way, I just signed it, was ticked for a bit, got a little worried and depressed over possibly not making it into the top 8, and then sucked it up and moved on to the next round.

Round 5: A friend of my good buddy Tom with his field control

I played another guy I knew. He was a friend of Tom's I knew from hanging out with Tom. I knew him and his deck pretty well, and he was pretty good. I end up winning the first one pretty easy from Painful and a well placed Heavy Storm. Dons and Drop Offs kept in my hands from there. I dropped off another Luster...I love that! I did it like 5 times in this tournament. People get so mad...their faces are priceless...they were even complaining about it. Don ended up finishing the first one for me.

The second one I thought he had me. He did 6000 to me in one shot via Luster and 2 DD Warrior Lady's. I use Tribe and call warrior to kill off his entire field. I get us both down to having very few cards. I then use my 2000 Blade Knight to hit openly 4 times for game while I use all 3 drop offs on him while topdecking to keep him from doing anything to stop me. Good game, I like his deck.

Round 6: Guy with perfect deck for fending me off

This match was amazing. It like he saw my deck beforehand or something and ceated his deck for the sole purpose of fighting off mine, lol. I mean, we battled each other card for card both rounds until we both almost decked out. It was like this: MST, Chain Ring, Premature Monster that was ringed, dust tornado, normal summon, torrential tribute, call of the haunted the monster, attack, sakuretsu armor. It was really a really good match that I leared alot from. The game winner for me in the first one was my controllers killing his beserks while they were attacking. We were both at 2000 LP and nearly topdecking, I Remove his Spirit Reaper via DD Warrior Lady, and premature Blade Knight for the winning attack. The stars of the second one that really came through were scientist killing 4 mons for 4000 LP, leaving me with major card advantage and dons and drop off keeping him low on cards. Eventually, Jinzo comes out when he has nothing but traps and finishes him when he draws nothing to save him. The best match in the tournament and I learned alot from it. I do believe it was this one that prepared me to win the rest fo the tournament. I would have prolly made dumb mistakes without the warm up.

Round 7: El Cheapo Last Turn Guy

Not much to say about this guy either, lol. He gets the last turn out agains me first turn. I would have won...had I known he played that kind of deck. I had Ring and Blade Knight. Had I set the Ring, I could have chained it to my face up BK and killed him before Last Turn could get me. My bad, and I fix it well in the next 2 duels.

The pretty much went the same...prenegated him. Donned his hand to crap. Dropped off his Jowgen and Last Turn. Summon Jinzo to Cripple him. Game. Both of the 2 duels went like that. I was in the Elims...so was he...and my only loss was still undefeated. But all that was about to change come the next rounds.

Cut to top 8, First Elimination Round

Quarter Finals: Cameron the Gravekeeper Guy

I know cameron too. He plays at Comic City, my old local tourney store. I knew he still ran gravekeeper, and I knew it prolly hadn't changed much. That didn't make it any easier because I also knew that he was really good duelist and had and killer gravekeeper/control deck. I just hope for the best and shuffle alot after the deck checks.

The first one I could have sworn he had me. Everyone did. He had Necro, Jinzo, and other Gravekeepers out against me all at one. I'm at 1500. I summon tribe and kill his field. I attack him. He kills my tribe, gets out a bunch of mosteres, I save my LP via sakuretsu armor and enemy controller. I love them, they save my @$$. My turn, I premature tribe, kill his field again, and tribute for Jinzo. He draws a trap. Game one to me...I start to feel confident.

The second one was a little easier. I use tribe again to kill his field, i heavy his necro and traps, premature Jinzo. Next turn, he HEAVY STORMS MY TRAPS AND BURIAL!!! I wasn't expecting a GK to be running heavy storm, but apparently it works fine. My Jinzo dies, but I end up Calling him and he wins me the second match too. I was in the top 4! I thought about going home and settling with my invite and playmat, but everyone said stay and see how far you go. I was really, really tired and feeling sick and hungry by this point, but I figured why not? I might win! lol

Semi-Finals: Return of El-Cheapo Last Turn

This is hilarious. Remember Mr. Undefeated Lucky dude from Round 4? Well he lost the quarter finals to the el cheapo last turn guy!!! LMAO I was giddy. All his bragging and "undfeated" skill, and he loses right when it counts. I had to bite my lip to keep from laughing. He met someone even shadier than him, lol. But I'm not too happy to face this guy again though. I left my elphant statues of disaster at home, believing no one would run last turn. Dumb move, lol. I beat him really bad the first one. I changed his cat of ill omen and used it to put ring to the top of my deck, lol. I swaped a des lacooda and used it to keep drawing cards, oh man he was fun to mess with. I ended up ringing DD Warrior Lady for game.

The second one ended up a tie. He was at 2150 and payed 2000 with wall of revealing light to keep my mons from finishing him off. My highest attacker was Blade Knight and by the time I drew a dust tornado, he had spirit reaper and LT. I used DD to remove it for fun, but we still tied. Cheap punk, lol.

The third one went exactly like the first. Got his cat, got his lacooda, beat him down, Ringed DD for game. It really good to beat him, AGAIN, lol. He was such a deuchebag, XD. On to the finals, I was really happy and nervous now. My Girlfriend was there cheering me on the whole time. It really helped me push myself. NO WAY was I going to lose IN FRONT of her. I wanted her to be proud of me and see me win, not choke again like in October. This new deck and a better attitude kept me in much better shape this time around.

Finals: Little guy with a very random yet good deck.

This guy was pretty good. His deck slaughtered every deck there...except mine. He ran a beat/field control that killed fast...but also used up cards fast. Oh I was very relieved to learn that. 1st duel, I had him topdecking by turn 3. I used my controllers to kill his gorillas, my sakurestu's for his kycoo's, and my dons and drop off for his hand. I made very dumb mistake however. Scienstist killed off most of his mons due to Balter. I summoned Senshi and realized I couldn't summon balter due to I already had 5 mons. Oops. I attacked the Cyber that I knew was a cyber and just played on. I ended up with dd, luster, pot, painful, and heavy storm. Yeah, it was bame after that. Luster and tribe finished him off.

The second one was odd. I started off really good. I heavy stormed early after luring him to set his hand to make his BK 2000 to kill my tribe. I prenegated the rest of his mons and creature swaped his BK for my serpent. It went back and forth but after a fiber jar flip by him and my down to 1200 due to scientist and lack of defense, I knew i was done for. a 1500 DD warrior lady was all that was needed, though he drew other mons as well.

The third one was the most memorable. I got off to a pretty rocky start. After trying to Creature Swap a Mataza, lol, I ended up using tribe to kill his mons and attack. I get it killed my gorilla, then i kill the gorilla next turn with enemy controller. I use scientist, don, and drop off to keep hs hand low and peck and his LP. He endes up killing my sci and don with a Kycoo and and change of heart. I am at 3800, he's at 2700. I premature Tribe and attack him. He goes to 1100. He has 2 FD cards, but i guess they are bluffs because he didn't use them when i attacked his LP. My turn I attack again...he doesn't respond. Game. I win. I won First Place at the St. Louis Regionals. Everyone shook my hand and said good game. I was in shock, lol. I thought I wasn't even going to make top 8 after round 4 and I ended up winning the whole thing. I got my invite, playmat, and a box of SOD, which I pulled really good out of, =). My best were 2 Mobius, 1 UR Lvl 7 Armed Dragon, 1 UR lvl 6 Horus the Black Flame Dragon, 1 Hallowed life barrier, 2 null and void, and some pretty good rares.

It was a really good tournament. I had a lot of fun, and I made my new uh "girlfriend", very proud of me that day. Many people, and a few judges said they really liked my deck, and were very happy to see it win. Apparently, I'm not the only one who terribly missed hand disruption, lol.

Well, there ya go. The Top 8 decks if my memory serves me were a hybrid control (mine), field control (2nd), Last Turn (el cheapo), Chaos (Tony), An odd light/dark field control (mr lucky), a gravekeeper (cameron), A Beatdown/Field Control (Big guy), and an aggro-warrior control (little guy).
Rate, Fix, Comment, whatever. I just thought I'd post my deck and provide as much info as I could remember. So what do you all think? I'm so proud of me winning!

You've got a good deck, I'm probaly one of the best in the store I go to, and there are some really good people in that store, but I can't afford all those rare cards, but I still do well, I was thinking of doing Regionals but the the $15 it is too participate is a litte steep for my taste because I don't have much money, and plus there are a lot of people there so that means that there is a slim chance of winning. Also congrats on you winning the Regionals I wish you luck in the Nationals, and even the World tourny if you get that far! :D

hmm. Some of those cards I am not fortunate enough to own. I ought to invest a little more in Yugioh. I'm already awesome in DM, and I honestly don't play much pokemon anyway .That I collect more than play. But congrats. :) I have a question: SOmeof those cards like Dust tornado and Drop off. What set are they from?

Thanx guys, I really appreciate your comments. I am going to try very hard to make it to the World Championship. I want to represent America so bad and play against the best in the World including the Asians. Especially Japan. I have been follwing their game, tactics, and decks so long I am confindent I can beat them if I make it there. BTW Dust Tornado is from Pharaoh's Servant. Nice of them to make it since MST is limited to 1 now and removal is needed now more than ever.

Congrats RE man. Keep it going and you'll make it big ;). Love your report and I love to see diversity in the decks (I laugh at you, raigeki!). Looking in, there aren't much more for discard to play other than delinquent anyway, so lack of hand disruption?

Yeah I wish they would come out with some more playable hand-D than the crap that they are releasing. bleh.

Well other than Duo there's Donny Z., Confiscation, Card Destruction, and Disturbance Stratagy. :D

I prefer "The Don" to "Donny G." That makes him sound like a saxophone player...

Anywho, let us not forget the more-useful-bc-of-banlist Robbin Goblin and Robbin Zombie. Teamed up with a couple of stall cards, and maybe a Bowganian or 2, you can have either SERIOUS hand disruption or discard.

O_o...jeez. It WAS on the front page, so I didnt think Meh, ded...I even saw new posts..and I hadnt visited for 2 days, not a week.

    Your math's off.

But if you want it dead, request a close, not bash me for accidentally not knowing that you thought it was dead.

You don't seem to understand the meaning of a dead topic. I topic is dead if it hasn't gotten any new posts in a week or so. Not if you haven't visited it in a week. :\ So my math is not off. Your concept of dead is what's off.

I was not bashing you either, I was informing you to the status of the topic, and I'm not appreciating the insinuations you are making. The topic WAS dead, and this extra banter is nothing but spam. Normally a dead topic doesn't need to be closed as the members usually know what a dead topic is.

wow, 1st place YGO regional winner, great job!

Congrats, Rocket Executive! That's a nice deck, and the strategy is really strong. I have a deck that focuses on spellcasters and making the opponent discard, and it works well. Godd job, and good luck at the next level!
