Wait. I wasn't aware of this rule because I've only done Gen 3 monotype challenges. You have to use herbal medicine on your Pokemon in Gen 7, 8, and 9 "Standard Mode"? Are you serious? I knew the Gen 7 Kanto games were easy, but it just feels wrong lowering the "friendship" stat because of this.
