  • It's not a Pokemon. You see, when a Pokemon uses Substitute, it evades all damage that has been inflicted until the opponent takes up 25%+ of the defender's health. Now obviously the defender needs something to take the damage with. When a Pokemon uses Substitute, the sprite of the real Pokemon disappears and the green decoy pops up. After the opponent inflicts 25% or more damage to the decoy, the decoy disappears and the real Pokemon's sprite reappears in the battle field.
