  • The Pokémon General Rules

    Violators WILL be eaten! >:O

It seems you've stumbled across the forum known as Pokémon General, otherwise referred to as PG. Up here in Pokémon General we have super strict rules that we enforce with tooth and nail >:[ Nah I'm just kidding, we're actually pretty easy going, but there are some rules/guidelines that need to be followed to get maximum enjoyment out of our lovely little forum :>

First of all, make sure that you are fully acquainted with the PokéCommunity rules, which do apply here. If you haven't already read them, it is imperative that you do right away. They can be found here. Now that we've gotten that out of the way, let's go on to the Pokémon General specific rules :3

    ~ Update! 6/24/09~
Concerning the Pokémon vs. Pokémon threads, there has been way too many of them lately. I mean, I used to see one every now and then, but lately there have been pages of them and it's starting to get... ridiculous. From now on, each member is limited to one thread of that style per week, and the two Pokémon listed must have something in common. Whether they're both the same type, or both starters, it doesn't matter. But they can't be totally random~

    ~ Update! 2/23/09~
With the arrival of the General Pokémon Gaming forum, Pokémon General is no longer the place to talk about the games, at all. If you're talking about the games, but not one in specific, then in belongs in the General Pokémon Gaming forum, not here. Any current threads on the games will be either locked or moved.

And yes, I realize this is like two months over due, but I could have sworn I had typed this before, and now it's gone :/

    ~ No duplicate threads!
You would not believe the amount of duplicate threads I come across on a daily basis. Honestly, just because you don't see a thread on the same topic on the first page of threads does NOT mean that there isn't already one lurking back a few pages. A thread is considered "Alive" or active if it has any posts within the last month. So it is important that you use the Search function to check for any threads on your topic.

~ Make sure your topic actually belongs here

Your topic only belongs in Pokémon General if it can not go into any of the other Pokémon related forums. Make sure to check the following before creating a thread.
    • Any topics about the Pokémon anime belong in Pokémon TV Show and Movies. That means that ANY topic refraining to ANY part of the anime absolutely do NOT belong here. Talking about Ash/Satoshi's Pokémon, your favourite movie, any and all of that belongs in Pokémon TV Show and Movies.

    • If you are making a topic about the Pokémon Manga, it belongs in the Pokémon Manga subforum.

    • All Pokémon roleplaying, either making the RP's or wanting to join them, needs to take place in the Pokémon Roleplaying forum.

    • Though this isn't a common problem, please make sure to keep any Pokémon fanfiction related topics in the Pokémon Fanfiction forum.

    • Any and all Pokémon Trading Card Game topics belong in the Pokémon TCG forum. This includes card ideas, wanting to buy cards, anything related to the TCG needs to go into it's own forum.

    • Threads and topics about ROM Hacking or anything to do with ROM Hacking (tilesets, etc...) belong in the ROM Hacking forum.
As always, please make sure you read the rules for the respective forums linked above as well.

    ~ Name your topics appropriately

Keep the title of your topic relevant to the actually topic. For example, if you have a topic on why Arceus is better then Mew, don't name it "Hey which is better....?", actually include the topic of the thread in the title. "Which is better, Arceus or Mew?" would be a much better title; not only does it show members what your thread is about, potentially bringing in posters, it shows us mods that your thread isn't just pointless spam.

    ~ No "help" threads

By this, I mean that if you just want to make a topic asking for a certain image, or trying to find out how to pronounce a certain Pokémon's name, please just use Google instead. It will be far faster and far more effective. Not only that, but it'll help keep Pokémon General free of useless clutter with no real topic.

~ Selling and advertising isn't allowed
Please, no threads trying to sell any old Pokémon merchandise, or linking to fanart you made that you want to sell. Selling, of any kind, is not allowed ANYWHERE on The PokéCommunity, not just Pokémon General. Any threads trying to sell something will be locked and the creator will be given an infraction.

As for advertising, this only applies to both forums and websites. If you have made a new Pokémon forum, that's great, but you don't need to advertise it through a thread. The ONLY place advertising forums and websites is allowed in Pokémon General is in your signature.

~ Put the cookie cutter away!

A "cookie cutter" thread is one that is just the same regurgitated mess over and over. If you're going to ask what member's favourite water Pokémon is, and then five minutes later decide to make a thread asking what member's favourite fire Pokémon is, don't just copy + paste the same thing. Actually put thought into your threads, make them interesting and conducive to good conversation. :3

    ~ No bumping old topics

If a topic hasn't been posted in in over a month, then do NOT post in it, just leave it to rest :3 If you really have a burning desire to add to the topic, just restart the thread!

    ~ Use common sense

Honestly, don't do anything you wouldn't want people to do to you. If you know what you are about to say is going to get you in trouble or cause problems, then don't post it. Simple as that. Thinking about making a thread with a sexual theme? You probably already know that it'll get you a warning, so why bother doing it? It'll benefit you none in the long run. So come on, just think over your actions before you do them :>

    ~ Regarding YouTube videos

Lately there have been a large amount of threads made for the sole purpose of showing YouTube videos. Yeah, those aren't allowed. Period. End of story.

And that's the end of the Pokémon General rules! :3 That wasn't so painful, now was it? But just in case you had some difficulty, you are always more then welcome to PM Serene Grace as he'll be more then happy to help you out the best he can. :>

    ~
