  • The Critique Thread

Welcome to the critique thread! The purpose of this thread is for members of PC to post their opinions on things such as movies, songs, artists, and books. Members can give ratings on popular movies, songs, television series', and books; so as long as it is not hurtful and related to the topic of Other Entertainment. You may not discuss the personal lives of celebrities as this is limited to discussion strictly including work and performances.

When you give a rating, use maturity. This is very important to have as this might as well be a debate on topics. Be sure you also put some effort into your posts, and make it look as professional as you can, so make sure to spell check before posting.

Our rating thread will consist of ratings from 1 to 5. 1 being the worst and 5 being the best. Note that you can also use halves and quarters in your rating (such as 2.25 and 2.50) as long as you give a reason why it's not a full-flat score.

And if you see that someone has already rated the book/movie/CD that you wanted to (or were going to) rate, and if you don't agree with the rating given, then you may post your own rating on it and your own feedback.

You are allowed to comment on others' ratings, but don't flame someone if they give a rating you don't like. they explained there point. And you are given the opportunity to explain yours. But please don't spam nor go off topic, and most important of all; have fun.

So do you think you have what it takes to be a critic? Well, lets find out.

  • I guess I could start things off, good thread idea, Angela!

Well I've got two things to ask about:

    1) I just got the movie "Get Smart" for Christmas, which I intend on watching quite soon. Has anyone seen it/what do they think?

    2) I've been addicted to American Idol Blake Lewis' CD from last year, Audio Day Dream. Thoughts on his pop-style beat-boxing music?

  • I haven't heard of the second person so I will simply rate Get Smart.
    I give it a 4 out of 5.
I saw this movie with my parents both having seen the original Get Smart series and being a vivid fan of them having watched every episode. They thought the movie was rubbish as when compared to the originals, it stood no chance. But I haven't seen the originals, so it was all new to me and I rather enjoyed it.
An excellent mix of comedy and action built up the movie to be to my likings!
So in conclusion, if you have seen and liked the original Get Smart series, you may not like this movie but nonetheless, if you like slap stick comedy and a bit of action to with it, it is quite a good move.
    4 out of 5.

    I have a movie I'd like critiqued.
James Bond; The Quantum of Solace.
This movie sparked many people's attention having been called 'the' worst Bond movie ever by many of my friends. When I saw it, I liked it a lot and thought it was quite excellent. So what are your opinions on the Quantum of Solace?

Just watched wanted for the first time and I give it a ★★★★ out of ★★★★★

It was a bit predictable but action packed and unique. I loved it. The ending was great too.

Quantum of Solace was good, just not as good as Casino Royale, and the action scenes were really jerky and hard to follow.

Being a long time fan, I was wondering what other PC members thought.

How would you rate Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel? And, just to throw in Joss Whedon's other shows, what about Firefly? And do you think the upcoming Dollhouse will be good?

  • I can rate Angel, just watched season 1:D, (got it for Christmas), these episodes are briliant, I just love them, there funny, but if it were not for Charisma the show would be pretty boring, and David is a hunk, but his character can get a little boring, some times I wish the show was called "Spike", "Drusila" or "Cordelia", I think they are a bit more interesting then Angela.

As for Buffy, there is an epic show, it went out with a style, but it was a shame that they killed Spike,

So these shows get 5/5 from me, Josh is a brilliant writer and I hope he'll continue his fantastic writing.

I would like someone to rate the episode Joey, (My opinion, the show is funny, and Bobbie is brilliant, and the other characters are alright but Micheal is dull).

  • Merry Christmas, Drake and Josh

Okay this was the recent Drake and Josh adventure that was just broadcasted on Nickelodeon. I find it hilarious and family friendly with a few police scenes involved. Still it was one of the best Nickelodeon Christmas movies by now.

I don't see this thread becoming popular seeing as how this movie wasn't really a major film, but a film strictly broadcasted on Nickelodeon, so I'm going to merge this thread with the Critique thread so that members can critique it when they please.

Thread has been merged with "The Critique Thread" [164604].

I like the Transformers and Hellboy 2, both has very high graphic content and full of action.

Please read what this thread is about. You have to rate a previous movie, song, etc. in order to list your own and even with that, you still lack any reasoning behind your post. So be careful not to SPAM like that in the future and know the rules before posting.

I really liked this movie, i've actually watched every single Drake and Josh episode. I remember the one where Josh kept getting arrested, they kinda copied the one. Anyway, I thought this was great!
