I wouldn't consider the basic security features of the forum registration process as difficult...unless the staff has changed it and not told anyone about it. Anyhow, it's simply to ensure that automated processes don't try to spam us, as has been mentioned above. (nobody want to see pharmecutical ad spamming bots here, we're a community of kiddies, not a community of achy old farts!)

Don't worry, I hate those captcha things too. But I agree with everyone else and it does prevent spam bots from joining. :< Alot of places have some form of random numberletter code that spam bots aren't able to decode.
