Yesterday I was doing an ICT lesson and my teacher Mrs.Hatfield said:
"Ok children I will need to use the learning platform to make a wiki on tudors, you are all assigned a subject about tudors"
Right now me and my ICT partner have done a lot of work on our subject "Poor-Tudors" and Ive got lots of nice comments and this wiki was only supposed to be 3 facts while I've put in like a whole section of typing :D
But know I can't find anymore information...:(
If anyone can help me get some more info by Monday 8:00 am GMT I would be truely greatful!
Heres what I have so far:
THE POOR TUDORS
The poor Tudors had to work very hard just to survive.
Their were 4 sorts of people in Tudor times in 1577 a church minister , William Harrison
These four sorts were:
Gentleman
The poor
Citezens of the cities and
yeomen of the countryside.
What poor Tudors may have looked like today.
CRIMES
The poor Tudors commited crimes such as:
Theft
Cut purses
Murder
Begging
Poaching
Debtors
Forgers(Fake money)
Fraud
Treason
Rebellion
Heresy
A sketch of a poor tudor man.
PUNISHMENTS
Hanging
Burning at the stake
The pillory and the Stocks
Public whipping
Branding with hot iron
Pressing with heavy stones
Ducking stools(mostly women who are accused of witchcraft)
Boiling in oil water or lead
Cutting of various items of the anatomy(body parts: nose, hands etc.)
Starvation
The Gossip's Bridle or the Brank
The drunkards cloak
JOBS
The poor Tudors jobs were very hard and were way harder than the rich
Peasents such as really poor people work in "Farmlands".
The churches would probally own the Farmland the peasants worked on.
Some poor tudors even worked in palaces to cook food.
Poor tudor children would not go to school because they would be working.
Poor tudor children iside the house would be spinning wool and collecting eggs and baking bread or making shoes.
HOUSES
In poor Tudor times the houses were very different to the rich, their houses were made of wattle, daub and thatch instead of plaster and timber like the rich.
All of their belongings were all kept in a box and threw their rubbish in a bush.
The toilet was just a hole in the ground.
CLOTHING
In Tudor times poor tudors didn't have as many belongings as rich Tudors, one of these were clothes.
Poor tudors had to wear the same set of clothes for a week. Some people made their own clothes out of wool!
