I've seen this conversation all throughout this site, so I just wanted to centralize the discussion to one thread.

    Articuno- 1:1
    Zapdos- 1:1
    Moltres- 1:1
Mewtwo- Male Only (those scientists were sexists...)
    Mew- Female Only?
    Entei- 1:1
    Raikou- 1:1
    Suicune- 1:1
    Lugia- 1:1
    Ho-Oh- 1:1
    Celebi- Female Only?
    Regirock- No Gender
    Regice- No Gender
    Registeel- No Gender
    Groudon- 1:1
    Kyogre- 1:1
    Rayquaza- 1:1
    Deoxys- No Gender
    Jirachi- 1:1
Uxie- 1:1 (it was a male in PMD, but I think that it could be both)
Mesprit- 1:1? (it was a female in PMD)
Azelf- 1:1? (it was a male in PMD)
    Dialga- 1:1?
    Palkia- 1:1?
    Giratina- 1:1?
    Arceus- 1:1?
    Manaphy- No Gender
    Phione- No Gender
    Shaymin- 1:1
Darkrai- Male Only? (to mirror Cresselia)
    Regigigas- No Gender

It seems like most Pokemon to me should be 1:1 gender ratio, but I know that just isn't what the masterminds behind Pokemon would allow.

They could try to make breeding difficult for legendaries by either keeping them in the "no eggs" group like Latios and Latias, or they could have some ridiculous prerequisites/limitations such as obtaining an item, traveling to a nest, lengthy egg duration, and the ability to only breed once. I could see that the three legendary dogs could share a pre-evolution, but neither the birds nor the land/sea/sky or time/space/dimension trios would have a common ancestor. If we can recall in Pokemon Snap, the birds did each hatch from their own eggs.

I'd like to see Manaphy and Phione's stats changed and altered to be non-legendary. Then, the chances of hatching a Manaphy or Phione will for once be dependent on the temperature of where they are hatched.

Perhaps pregnancy should be introduced? No that a lot of Pokemon could get pregnant, but it would require some limitations during that period.

Arceus needs to have all of its stats lowered down to 600.

I still don't understand how Mew could be the common ancestor of all Pokemon when Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina created the Pokemon universe. I prefer to think of Mew as a versatile rarity in the Pokemon world.

I don't really understand what you're saying. Is this about what you think legendary Pokemon would be if they had genders, or if they should introduce legendary eggs? Please elaborate.

And I don't think pregnant pokemon is such a good idea... Too much thinking involved.

Um... ahem. Sorry if I wasn't clear. I'm just asking if Pokemon were finally to give genders to more legendary Pokemon, what would be their gender ratio and why?

Im sure they already have genders, its just they are unknown. Like, do you think most people in the pokemon world would have had the chance to see a rayquaza's privet parts? I dont think so...

  • Hm... As many legendaries are only one-of-a-kind (or are they... Thinking you can catch several of them in different games... Let's just say they are), I think many of them simply don't have any genders, as there are no opposite to prove them. I mean, for instance, Giratina may seem male...like, but firstly, there's only one, so no reproducing there, thus no need for gender, and besides, even if it looks male to us humans, it may be anything... even some kind of third or fourth gender we don't know of. And this applies to every one we don't know the gender of.

Articuno- If there's just one, then no questioning. If there are several, then both.
    Zapdos- See Articuno
    Moltres- See Articuno
Mewtwo - Possibly neither, but if Mew has genders, then this probably does too. In that case, Probably male.
Mew - There are apparently several, so both.
Entei - It is a species on its own, isn't it? How can you decide a gender in that case? But it sure LOOKS like a male.
    Raikou - Same as Entei.
Suicune - Same as Entei, but it seems female.

Lugia - In spite of what the Anime says, I'm gonna say it's unique. And therefore genderless.
    Ho-Oh - Same as Lugia.

Celebi - If there's one, then neither, if there's several, then either.
    Latios - Male (obviously)
    Latias - Female (obviously)
Regirock - No gender. It's animated mineral. It's like saying a rockslide is female.
    Regice - No gender. -''-
    Registeel - No gender. -''-
Groudon - It's unique. Probably no real gender.
    Kyogre - Same as Groudon.
Rayquaza - Probably unique. Probably no gender.
Deoxys - No gender. Unless viruses has genders all of a sudden.
    Jirachi - See Celebi.

Uxie - Unique, but presumed male, oddly enough.
Mesprit - Same as Uxie, but female.
    Azelf - Same as Uxie.
Dialga - Unique. It was created before genders were, I would suppose.
    Palkia - -''-
Giratina - See beginning of post.
Arceus - Probably none. Or Game Freak are sexists.
Manaphy - It's called Prince of the Sea. And it can breed. So presumed male.
Phione - Either, I guess. Or neither.

Heatran - 75% male, if I remember right. But if so, it's not unique.
Shaymin - See Celebi and Jirachi.
Cresselia - Female, according to the game.
Darkrai - Unknown, probably genderless, but could be male or female, or whatever.
Regigigas - Probably same as the Regi trio, genderless.
