    I used to do my trading on Serebii.net's Wi-Fi Chat, but after too many people in their community became rude and honestly immature, my best friend (love her!) introduced me to PokéCommunity, and here I am.

    I'm heading over to the trading forums after this, which are a neat idea that I've not used much in the past. I'm curious about something else, though -- is the IRC chat only for general discussion*, or do people hold trades and battles there, too? Thank you much!

    * (I ask because Serebii segregated its general and Wi-Fi chats, and I don't know how things work here.)
     
    It's good to see another trader coming to trade with other people! I like that. :)

    The IRC chat is mostly for general discussion and stuff, but if you're lucky you might come across the topic of those willing to trade. There really isn't a general chat place where those can come together and trade, but the Trade Corner is quite active, so you'll probably always find someone there to talk to. Just remember to read the rules there and post in the appropriate sections. :) On that topic though, you might want to check out our own Pokemon Online server, which have people there, and is more direct at trading and all the cool Pokemon stuff instead of just general chat, so maybe that'd interest you more. Although that place is more directed at Competitive battling, so maybe you'll pick up a new interest. :D

    Don't forget to bring a towel read the general rules of the forum, and pretty much anyone would be open to helping you out if you ever need it. :P

    The IRC is a chat, really... just go with the topic on hand, and you'll be fine. As for trades, I would suggest trying your luck in the trade subforums. Have fun at PokéCommunity!
