can you solve one? if you can, how fast can you solve it and, if you're a speedcuber, what method can you use? do you know anyone who has amazing rubik's cube abilities?

i learnt how to solve it two days ago. my current average is somewhere around five minutes. eventually, once i get more comfortable with it, i want to start learning fridrich algorithms and solving it in less than a minute.

I haven't had a Rubik's Cube for a while... left it at home back in England and keep forgetting about it. This thread just reminded me of it.

As for solving it, I've never knew how to, but I'd probably learn it easily if I tried.

I learned the basic algorithm from a classmate in 9th grade, and I got good enough to do it in about two/three minutes or so (can't remember the exact number). I don't remember how to solve the last layer now, though, because I lost my cube the next year and I never replaced it so I'm out of practice.

I have solved one assisted (while looking up techniques) before. There was a time when I could half solve one without looking it up. But I don't think I could anymore. I should practice again. It's a good party trick. :P

Nope... I never learned any of the formulas though... so I'm sure I'd be able to if I did.

Does breaking the rubix cube or taking the stickers off count?

Goddess, the last time I did one of those things was when I was about 8 years old. I used to do it every Sunday at my Nannas house, I sucked at it, I never did manage to finish it but it was still a cube full of fun.

My friend Tony on the other hand is brilliant, I believe his record is 40 seconds or something like that.

Used to be able to solve them in about a minute as a kid, but now, I can't solve one for my life sadly.

I've had some Rubik's Cubes with me, but I never managed to solve them. But I do remember one of my sisters being able to do a Rubik's cube in around 10-20 minutes.

I tried it once but just couldn't get the hang of it really. :\

I was the naughty kid that could only "solve" them by switching stickers. :) My mom would yell at us, saying that replacing the middle sticker messed things up. She can solve them somewhat well. I just never learned and I don't feel like doing so now. *shrugs*
