NOTE: Even though this RP is based on the Diablo series of RPGs by Blizzard Entertainment (hence the title), it also takes a lot of things from Starcraft, Warcraft, and just about whatever else is in my warped little mind. The plot itself is heavily influenced by an RP I saw on another forum, which in turn was inspired by an anime (the title of which I forgot, BTW).
Oh, and I really, REALLY want to see this thing to the very end, so if you join up, there's no going back.

The land of Sanctuary has gone through countless changes in the centuries since the final defeat of the Prime Evils and the destruction of the Worldstone. Geographical and political upheavals, extinction of cultures, advances in technology... Sanctuary is now a vastly different place from what it once was when Diablo was beaten for good. Guns have replaced swords and bows, Kevlar is preferred over steel armor, and cars have superceded the horse as the preferred mode of transportation, among a great many things; basically, Sanctuary is like modern-day Earth in terms of technology. A few things haven't changed, however; magic is still practiced, demons still wander the lands, and the religious order of Zakarum is still there.
The end of the world: an event predicted by radical seers and religious fundamentalists for generations even before the coming of Diablo. However, when one of the members of the Zakarum High Council tells of the upcoming apocalypse should a certain child reach her 18th birthday, the entire world bands together in order to prevent or at least delay the end.
Enter Katherine Madigan. The girl branded as the doombringer, she has been hunted relentlessly by agents of the Zakarum Church, the secular government (the United Powers League), various mercenary groups (the Knights of the Silver Hand being the most noteworthy of these), and the megacorporation known as the Thompson-Sakay Conglomerate in a desperate attempt to prevent the apocalypse as foretold by the High Council. Believing firmly in Katherine's innocence, her friends and family try to protect her from harm as they travel Sanctuary (whicn is ironically a place where no sanctuary is to be found) in an effort to keep the "Shattered Sorceress," as the United Powers League has dubbed her, safe from those who want her dead, even though they are going against church and state to do so.
What side are you on? Are you a Zakarumite, a UPL agent, a merc, or an employee of the TSC? Or are you one of those who has cast his/her lot with the Shattered Sorceress?
