Apparently either my cat is freakishly smart, or he doesn't like loud, screechy sounds. Probably the latter. Or perhaps he just was lonely.
I woke up this morning to the sound of something rattling my door. I figured it was just one of my two felines begging for attention and tried to go back to sleep. After a while, I was fed up and got up with the intention to shoo him away.
Now, I keep my bedroom door locked at night. So it occurred to me that, considering where I live, it might not be a cat who was trying to get in. I looked out and just seen a furry face watching me. While trying to get him to leave me alone (which he refused to do), I realized that there was a loud, high-pitched noise coming from another part of the house.
Apparently a smoke alarm was going off in another room. I couldn't hear it because it was in a container under some stuff (otherwise it's *very* loud). I poked around a bit, and there was no actual fire- the battery was just dying or something.
Maybe having a needy cat will be useful someday. I:
