Hey guys,
Since I've got a blog now, I thought I may as well use it...
So it's Valentine's Day tomorrow... but you probably knew that already.
Now I don't know about you guys, but I for one am not a fan of this holiday. Not because I am single, jaded and bitter (well I am single, but that's beside the point :P), but because the whole day just doesn't make sense to me.
People tell me that Valentine's Day is about being romantic and showing your partner how much you love them, but I don't buy that. At least five guys I know who are in relationships have done exactly the same thing: Flowers and Chocolates. I'm sorry, but I don't see how producing an unbelievably clichéd gift is romantic. Especially considering that without the social pressures attached to Valentine's Day, they almost certainly wouldn't have bought the gift in the first place.
I think that by having a day that necessitates romance, it makes being romantic that much more difficult. Little things that on any other day of the year would be considered romantic now become the norm. I think buying someone a gift out of blue shows you care far more than doing it on Valentine's Day, when every other guy in the world is doing the same.
I don't know maybe it's just me... What do you guys think of Valentine's Day? Love it? Hate it? Don't really care? Let me know.
Anyway rant over
'Til next time
Bye guys
