Not on the bandwagon

  • I see a few members posting blogs saying 'what do you think of me?'

Too be honest, I don't really like the idea of that, it is like members are asking for compliments. This is just my opinion, of course, but when I see them, I honestly just think people are trying to draw nice comments and no doubt, if someone didn't post a nice comment, they would moan and say that it mean.

Personally, I don't really mind if people like me or don't. I do my best to be fair and helpful, if people don't like that, then I am not going to go out of my way to prove that.

  • At least no one is posting about how VG can be improved. :3

You don't need a blog for me to tell you you're fabulous~!

You don't need to prove to anyone you're cool, or helpful (Because I know you are). You tell us about yourself and let things go the way that they do. I agree that it is a type of bandwagon. And I remember hearing IRL that "fishing for compliments" is "rude". But, if someone else compliments you, that is something completely different. I like your view on this particular subject, as well.

  • No no, don't get me wrong. If someone compliments you out of the blue or something like that, I have no problems with that.
It is only when someone provokes a complimentary response like these blogs.

And just because it is 'around me every day' doesn't mean I can't comment on it.

What I would encourage is 'point out my flaws' but god knows how wrong that can go. Last November, five of us were at KFC and we decided to play 'who in our class hates us?' It didn't end well.

  • To be honest, I wasn't trying to fish for compliments when I hopped the bandwagon. I truly wanted to see what people thought of my character because I figured it would be a chance for me to work with any flaws I have (though some "flaws" are what makes me me, so I wouldn't work on those at all). And while it's true I want to be liked, who doesn't? But I didn't hop the bandwagon with that intention in mind either.

Anyways, I do agree with your view and I'm glad you posted this 'cause some people are too afraid to post their opinions. It definitely shows confidence on your part, that's for sure.

Fair enough, that is your reasoning to post so that is down to you.

And I do speak what is on my mind if it is the correct place to. You could say I am strong minded, but I just like to speak my opinions.

Just out of curiosity, how can that ever end well?

  • This blog entry == Epic.

You see, I think he's getting at the fact that hopping on the bandwagon is mindless at times...mostly because you're not really creating your own content, but copying a PC-meme. XD

There's nothing wrong with bandwagoning occasionally, but...it gets annoying after a while because it spams the hell out of the blogs page...kvjherlkghqkerrhgfqlerjg...AND IT TAKES DAYS for that spam to fall off the page. >_>

  • I borrowed Dev's idea (again) because I really do want to know what people think of me. I want to know what people notice about me, if there's something I could improve on, etc. I don't particularly care if they like me- that's not what I'm asking. I'm asking what they think about me.

I don't like when people say things like this- that asking such a thing is "fishing for complements" or whatever. It's actually quite offensive to people who aren't doing it for that reason.
Some people do it for that, sure. But I don't think that statement applies to the majority.
