I get that stories are sad, that I should be sad, and that I should feel sad, but…
I can't feel it. It's not that I don't think I shouldn't be, but I don't get the concept that you would even think about being sad and cry for something that's not yours. I feel sympathy for them, that their lives are in the drain right now, but…
They're not me. Why should I feel sad and mopey? There are other ways to show your sadness and condolences or whatever, at least that's what I tell myself (which is probably wrong most of the time in the first place).
It's always embarrassing when we all watch a sad movie or hear of a sad story like the two today, and I don't say "Oh, they're so (insert negative adjective!" and they all get mad at me.
