  • I should update more often than this.

    Eh.

I first went to Burnt Tower, which really does look the part, I have to say. Quite impressive to walk in and be able to see the 3 beasts sitting on the level down, although I'll question Eusine who was there and hadn't noticed them down there yet. Morty was there too standing around being cool, and my rival, who upon noticing me challenged me to a duel in lawn balls.

After realising we didn't have any lawn to roll Pokeballs on, we had a Pokemon battle instead. Found him pretty easy, although is Quilava was timely - I believe Silver had skipped ahead to Blackthorn for a bit and met the Move Deleter and had him make Quilava forget every move bar Smokescreen.

Making the dogs run away was interesting I suppose, and then Eusine showed up before running after his one true love Suicune. Went and battled a few people and then left for the Dance Theatre. A crazy Rocket began talking to a Kimono girl and then started spinning around ridiculously - rather amusing, although the Kimono girl stepped back, seemingly worried. The Rocket was pathetic though - a level 12 Koffing? =/

It impressed the guy who used to have a Surfing Rhydon though, as he gave me HM Surf. Whee. I then went to Morty's gym. The puzzle was... easier, I suppose compared to GSC but there was some difference to it - the path differs and the light that appears around the trainers disappears once you beat them so you have to remember the path... or maybe not - as a friend demonstrated making a mistake is fine as the lights then come back on. Oh well. The Channelers sprite more than makes up for it though - it's hilarious. Looks like they're shouting 'WOODSTOCK' or something.
    Spoiler:

Morty was decent - and his Gengar has apparently posed great problems to others (unless it's being stupid, of course). I didn't hve too much trouble with it though - Flaffy's Thunder Wave help slow it down, and Scizor's Pursuit did the rest. Then I just had Golbat Bite the rest to oblivion. Incidentally, Golbat gained 3 new souls.

After my victory, I went and got Strength from a random hiker who appeared out of Mt Mortar before catching a Poliwag with my trusty Old Rod. Adding it to my team for a bit I headed south and started making use of Surf and Strength to get items by Violet City, etc, as well as find some hidden items with the ItemFinder. My verdict on the Itemfinder - fantastic. More fun to use than in D/P/Pt - the range is bigger, the system has colours (Dude. Colours.) and a beeping sound with it like a true metal detector (Sounds. Beeps. Far out, man. Like...whoa.)

Also went to Union Cave and first went to the route towards the Ruins of Alph a few times and finished the rest of the puzzles there. All but Ho-oh were easy - Ho-oh was timely though thanks to the similar-looking pieces. (Smeargle and Natu can be found in the grass there as well yet again). Then I went into Union cave again and beat up the trainers again, got myself a Quagsire to be my new HM Slave the second (goodbye, Rattata, you served me well - may you be ready next time I need to Cut a tree), and a Lapras. (I changed the day to Friday with my... Dialga. Yes, didn't fiddle about with my DS settings, nosireeno.) -_-

That completed my team - Bayleaf, Growlithe, Golbat, Flaffy, Scizor and Lapras. Whee. Decided I'd go with the 6 Pokemon and see how far they'd take me.

Went around some more - got King's Rock from Slowpoke cave via Strength and Surf, and the 3 trainers on the beach south of Goldenrod were there as well (but the first 2 battles became a double battle. Neat!) Nice to see stuff from GSC remain in like that. While heading north, I encountered, of all things, a Raikou. How lucky. Tossed an Ultra Ball for fun at it.

    And caught it. O_O

Lucky me - now I had a Pokemon which was well over-levelled the rest of my Pokemon. XD Decided not to use it though because I'm boring like that. (My team was already made, going with an over-levelled Pokemon would also be boring, and I was afraid if I went with it against Eusine later on he'd get really depressed. Poor guy... obsessive, but still).

Then went and tried some Pokethlon. And by 'tried some'... I won every set. -_- It was fun though - I quite like the football minigame even though it's a bit basic (what can I say - I enjoy football!), the worst probably was the 'push circle' one (after every few seconds you have to have your Pokemon standing in circles to get points), the rest varied from ok to good. The hurdles race is simple but fun (not simple when you have to make 3 jump at the same time for a while), the other race one also fun although very easy if you catch onto the pattern quickly and remember it and remember to switch your Pokemon every so often. Capture the flag is decent, freesbie jump ok, brick breaking is good old simple tap-as-much-as-you-can with some timing involved with the switching... too lazy to comment on the rest for now. =P

Finally went onwards to proceed the plot - went towards Olivine first. Made my way to the Miltank Farm and healed up the Miltank thanks to all of the Oran berries my mum bought me (incidentally, stuff your mum buys ends up with a delivery man in the PokeMarts. She likes buying berries... and later on stuff like Choice Scarfs and Focus Sashes. Score!) Got myself a TM, the ability to buy MooMooMilk (they thoughtfully put in the option from Platinum to buy 12 at a time), and a Seal Case), and found some items like Nuggets in the farm. Entered Olivine, chatted with some old man when I got there, talked to my rival, and got a Good Rod. It's...good.

The lighthouse music is really fun to listen too - I tended to wait for a loop to finish before battling people. Not to mention the Lighthouse looks way better too... and has some differences. Instead of falling down holes to get to other levels? You jump out windows. YAY LOOK AT ME MUM I'M COMMITING SUICIDEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE OH wait the balcony saved me. -_- It's really neat though - the 3D stuff comes out and wins here - you can walk around it and admire the Johto Landscape rendered into the background. The fact I went there around Dusk meant I enjoyed a beautiful sunset view. Brilliant.

Amphoros looks like an Amphoros now, not a Rhydon. Something to look forward to when my Flaffy evolves. Jasmine was there too, told me to surf the sees and get a secretpotion. AND SO I WENT ON THE SEAS. Punched the swimmers in the face, and had Golbat evolve into Crobat. Good timing for good old Chuck! His gym really got a makeover, although the puzzle ain't very hard (battle your way towards a switch which turns off a Waterfall Chuck is standing underneath). You can talk to him while the waterfall is running as well.

He wasn't too hard but I kinda did have a 4x resistant against Fighting Pokemon to use. If Chuck hadn't been stupid and used Rock Slide it may have been a different matter. Also has Focus Punch - but either way I won. Interesting to notice that now his wife WILL speak to you and give you Fly rather than you having to speak to her.

Went north and found Suicune after breaking up a heck of rocks! It ran off on water as Eusine appeared with his stalker-radar and cool theme music remix. Sounds neat. He wasn't too hard, but did have Electrode which has a pretty great-looking sprite. Beat him, and flew back to the Lighthouse and gave Amphoros the SECRETPOTION. I wonder what's in it... probably a whole heap of Proteins is my guess...or orange juice.) Whatever it was, it made a neat cutscene with lots of shiny lights and all - Jasmine thanked me and went back to her day job of standing in the one spot in her gym.

She has trainers in her gym... but all they did were talk to me! (I suspect one was the old man who talked to me before I entered Olivine). Oh well? I did kinda have to surf across oceans to get her to battle me though. Her Magnemite were easy for Growlithe, Steelix a bit harder but Sufing Lapras won without breaking a sweat.

With that, I went to Mt Mortar! Encountered Suicune, who ran into me when I Cut a tree - Eusine soon followed, talked, and walked off. Nice meeting you too, Eusine.

The fake-tree by the Team Rocket hideout looks amusing - clearly fake, and you can't Headbutt it. I went and bought my Key Item RagCandyBar, and headed towards the Lake of Rage. Don't go into the gatehouse, btw, for the Rockets are again back there stealing your $1000 each time you enter, like before. (But do go afterwards and you get a free TM!). The Red Gyarados looks neat - battled it. Two Thundershocks with one giving paralysis from Flaffy set it up perfectly - an Ultra ball and Great Ball later it was mine. I went back after exploring the area and talked to Lance, who looks quite nice, sprite-wise, and has a Dragonite following him the whole time. (Again you can see it use Fly as well. Whee). Went back to the Rocket Hideout in Mahogany and watched stuff go down.

Such as, say, Dragonite headbutting Rockets into walls, yo. Lance is still violent against them troublemakers. =D Lance proceeded to use Strength on a giant bookshelf to find the secret entrance I figured he must have been working out these past ten years. Persian statues are back - the alarm sequence is cool, and the very-fast Rockets that appear amusing. You can still use the secret switch in a computer to turn off the statues. Actually, the whole thing was like before - Lance heals you after that, you have to battle Rockets to find two passwords, etc. Before entering a room though, Silver shows up again, and talks like before... and then kicks you again before leaving. Wow, he's got even more of a temper these days. AWESOME. =D

The Rocket Admin was easy enough (one really notices how many darn Posion types the Rockets used), and the Murkrow... helps you rather willingly now. It leads you back to the final place, and opens the door for you before leaving. How nice of it. A grunt and an admin show up then along with Lance like before - and it's DOUBLE BATTLE TIME AT CHILDREN CARD GAMES.

After it turned out Lance hadn't brought any children cards, we had a Pokemon battle instead. Lance's level 40 Dragonite was kinda over-levelled, and proceeded to use Hax - used Fly to dodge my surf, hit every time with Thunder, etc. (With a friend he was a bit more annoying though, only using moves to hit the weaker opponents leaving him with the rest). It also took an Ice Shard from my high-level-20 Lapras very well - hardly did anything, although Lapras does suck physical-attack wise.

...what? We were going to win anyway and I was curious to see how much damage it would have done. =P

Afterwards we went and killed those Electrode (or caught some). They have the most amusing grin when you interact with them. After doing so and beating the operation, Lance gave me the most almighty of moves - HM Whirlpool. Such a thoughtful guy. After he left I took on the might of Pryce's gym. (The fake tree outside now turned into broken wires and ash, heh. But who knows if Lance had broken it up...?

The puzzles are in parts now - slide across the ice to move ice boulders into each other so you can get to the next room. Found them easy. During the trainers Flaffy evolved finally, so I proceeded to ThunderPunch everything afterwards. In the face. (Except Poliswine which I surfed to oblivion). Pryce looks cool with his walking stick of doom, have to say.
