  • Dear PokeCommunity,

I have something to tell you all about me. This isn't the fun kind of proclamation, but I think it's important that people know. I've been struggling with it for a while now, wondering whether I should just come out and say it. Other people like me say that it gets so much better once you just declare it to the world. Because then it's out there, right? People shouldn't have to hide who they are because others might not like it. I'm stalling now, I know, but this is really hard. My heart is pounding, I've never been more nervous in my life. I could lose friends over this.

Alright! It's time to just rip the Band-Aid. There's no easy way, so I'll just say it...

    Spoiler:

I know that this is a controversial decision and that some of you may not support my lifestyle, however I do ask that you respect my right to live the way I choose to live.

My hesistation about going public about this on PokeCommunity is due to the fact that I've been left a little gun-shy. I came out via Facebook status on Saturday morning and was met with some intense Applephobia in that one comment stream alone. People used tired memes to show their disgust; I was labelled a sell out; one boy told me that my new life had caused his loss of faith in humanity, and the mother of one of my friends even offered to pray for my mortal soul.

One comment simply read, "You can now suck my [youknowwhat]". While I realise that this was most likely an expression of disgust in my decision, his use of the word 'now' leaves room for me to entertain the possibility that he found the thought of me with an iPhone so erotically rousing that he felt compelled to make a sincere request for immediate oral stimulation. However, as the poster in question looks like this,

    Spoiler:

and is therefore likely to carry more fungi on his person than was found in my swimming pool after five years of disuse, I politely declined. Though I must say, I was flattered by the proposal.

My point is, I hope that you can still look at me in the same way. I know that once people come out as iPhone users they tend to be seen as people with iPhones rather than just people. Part of it is jealousy I suspect, but that doesn't help the depression you begin to feel when you walk down the street holding your new best friend in the palm of your hand and see the looks of contempt on the faces of passers-by.

Don't be those people, I ask you. Bigotry does not serve this world. Choose love, my friends. Choose love.

Well... it sure is an unique way of proclaiming that you bought an iPhone! Is it an iPhone 4?

  • I'm not an iPhone or an Apple fan, but I respect your decision, and your views, because you're a good friend of mine. :)

but I am a bit jealous, though.

I...I can't accept this. I mean, I love phones and all people should be able to have the phones they want, but I can't accept that you would make this choice. ):

    inb4 someone takes me seriously

  • Congrats! I'm still waiting to get one. (not in the budget this month). You should find it fun and easy to use, even more so come fall and the release of iOS 5.
