So, what's going on in Alex's life?

  • Regardless of the fact that I disagree with Kura, he does have a point. What are blogs for, anyway?

So, my life. What be goin' on?

First and foremost in my mind are the upcoming exams. In three and a half weeks, I have English, Drama and Spanish in some order. I'm fairly confident on these fronts, as they're Year 10 exams. (I'm in Year 10.)

Then a week or so after they finish, the heavy stuff starts. I'm taking Year 11 exams in Science, Maths and History. This is because I'm in the ALP (Advanced Learning Program), or what I believe Americans call AP or something. Maths, I'm fairly confident I'll get a good mark, because I'm actually top in Year 11. (And as mentioned before, I'm a Year 10. >_<)

As for History, I'm a little shaky. I have a horrible head for names and dates, and it didn't help that I failed one-third of the so-called 'practice' test we did last term. If I'd put one more sentence on the end of one of my answers, I would have passed with Merit, which equates to roughly 70-85%. Stupid NCEA system, but I won't rant about that again. Be thankful. :3

ANYWAI, Science. My LEAST favourite subject, and the one I always worry about screwing up on. However, I've got at least M, some Es this year. Which is good. (If the NCEA system is too confusing for you - and I don't blame you, it's retarded - let me translate. Lots of B+'s, a few As. Maybe a B- on the Bio test.) So actually no big deal.

In conclusion, it's the History I want to worry about, so I'll focus on that. Irish Revolution is such a win topic. I <3 the Irish.

Did I ever tell you guys I'm a quarter Irish? Well, I am. My maternal grandmother is Irish. But she doesn't like potatoes. :/ I like potatoes.

Anyway, back to school talk. Today was actually a fairly relaxed day. I did sod-all in Maths, seeing as I finished the work fairly quickly. Then in Spanish, the same thing. I'm good with languages, and I hope to pursue a career in linguistics (among other things).

Actually, I made a resolution a few days ago to teach myself Japanese. So far, I've only learned one hiragana. I can't be bothered finding it to show you, but it's the one for 'n'. I need to get on with that. Then again, the member who convinced me (in a roundabout way) to learn Japanese is now on my ignore list. Pretty sad, actually. First time in nine months of membership I had to use it.

Anyway, that's kind of irrelevant. So instead of Drama third period, we had a middle school assembly. Maybe I should explain that my school happens to be one of the top sporting schools in the country, which sucks for me because I fail at sport. Epically. (oh noes PE tomorrow T_T) So school assemblies tend to be a string of reports from sport captains and another two or three shiny trophies presented to the headmaster for the trophy cabinet. (I swear, our trophy cabinet is zetta huge! It's ugly, too. And shiny.) And today was no exception. We won some multisport thing, and some other multisport thing, and almost won some other thing, but failed.

So that sucked majorly, because Drama is my favourite subject, and I got all of ten minutes' worth. :/ So my day was looking to go majorly downhill from there, with History and Science lined up.

I was relieved when I got to History, however, because I remembered we were watching a movie called Michael Collins. It's an excellent movie, and it helps me remember more about the IRB et al than any amount of notes. Plus it's nice and bloody.

And Liam Neeson (Qui-Gonn Jinn) is starring alongside Alan Rickman (Severus Snape), which makes it that much more awesome. And Julia Roberts is good too. Rickman's Irish accent could use some work, though.

And in Science, we were watching a doco on fossils. And Sir David Attenborough, OM, CH, CVO, CBE, FRS, FZS (lol wikipedia) was narrating. He is so awesome.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zoological_Society_of_London

And then on the bus on the way home, a couple of random people decided to come over and sit by me one by one to introduce themselves. I gave them my middle name and never saw either of their faces because I didn't look up from my book the entire time. Some kids are dumb. @_@

What else is new, um. I don't think there's anything particularly special.

Oh, and the semi-hiatus thing last blog? Not happening. :/ I love you guys too much. But I will still be cutting down on my PC time somewhat.

    Ah, Nica's latest blog entry just reminded me of something funny. When my History teacher left the room for a couple of minutes today, she handed me a large stick and said 'You're in charge'. I was like o_o;;;

She also has a piece of two-by-four with 'Ms Grace's "encouragement" stick' written on the side. She keeps threatening to 'encourage' people XD. She never has to, though.

I bonked a certain loud idiot on the head with the abovementioned stick while she was out today, though. Most satisfying.

And Bubbles, I know where you've been going when you say you have 'orthopaedic appointments'. You say anything about you-know-what and everybody finds out, mmkay?

  • ;_; HE?! .. I.. I'm a girl!!

._. You don't need to agree with me, though!!
Also! Year 10? o_o Have you been thinking about what you wanna do when you graduate yet? ._. I guess you have tons of time though, right?

You're lucky! I've never had a chance to take drama ;___; I've always heard from everyone that it was so fun, though!
How many courses are you taking? ._. Are you doing the 8 year-round? Or is it divided into 4 subjects per semester like it was with us, that like.. alternate?

Also, if you actually DO end up busy with IRL stuff, I'm sure your friends on PC will understand that and just welcome you with open arms once you start being regular here again :3

  • The point of your blog is to blog about what you want to blog about. Not what someone else wants you to blog about.

Oh sorreh. If I don't know someone's gender, they automatically become 'he' because of some obscure grammar law Jax told me once. *shrugs*

Yup, plenty of time. I want to take a BA, majoring in English and History/Ancient History. Then maybe lecturing or something.

Um, 6 subjects, 5 a day, all year.

I don't plan to become irregular, but yeah, I know what you mean. :3

  • I had a mind flip with the M's and E's, so thank you for...not explaining but telling what it equates too.
Why can't we all grade with numbers?

  • Hehe, Bubbles.

And as for the M's and E's, bleh. I devised a new slogan for NCEA.

    "NCEA. Like SAT, but crap!"
