Achieving true equality

  • I am personally very tired of people claiming that they are "liberal". They don't seem to understand, or at least have a very bent view on, the definition of "equality".

Sure, they might be supportive of a non-traditional trend, but whenever you try to discuss a traditional value with them, they automatically shut down, just as a "conservative" ignores you when you mention anything "liberal". I would prefer to classify these people in four ways rather than two:
    • Conservative: Doesn't want to change too much too fast, but willing to compromise if it comes down to that.
    • Old-School: Will not accept change at all. Current view of "conservative" that we see on TV, politics, etc.
    • New-School: Will not accept not changing. Every Reddit user or "Liberal Guy" stereotype you've ever seen.
    • Liberal: Accepts any change, and advocates reform, but will compromise if it comes down to that.

It's very saddening, and maybe even annoying (yep, definitely annoying). So how would we go around to change that? How would you change that? Is there anything that you could work on to make yourself more truly "liberal", rather than "old-school" or "new-school"?

And I really want you guys to reflect on yourselves. None of that "I'm perfect!" crap anymore. You're not perfect. I'm not perfect. Nobody's perfect. Our goal in life is to not be so not-perfect.f

  • I wasn't saying that this is all they are, I'm just saying that people need to make the distinction.

and besides, I didn't say "conservative party" or anything, so this is merely the general definition.

  • well i mean

you just can't pair a generalization or analysis of group mentality with an attack on individuals

  • btw you are rather pressing your beliefs onto others. perhaps they are fine with their values and what they stand for and how they do it. not everyone is your ideal liberal. not everyone wants to be your ideal liberal.

  • and i'm pretty sure everyone is well aware of the fact that none of us are perfect because everyone here probably has enough life experience to realize that, even if the person in question does not show it.
those who present or assert themselves to be perfect or flawless has more to do with them wanting to be seen that way than them actually being that way and that's their way of dealing with their insecurities and flaws: by doing their best to convince themselves and others that such things do not exist.
so don't attack the people that present themselves as such, because damn have they got more issues than haughtiness.

  • the way you have worded your blog heavily implies that you are addressing the people reading it so you know. could have done with a sub-title or something to clarify that

and nobody implied or said that you were perfect and you even explicitly stated that you are not at the tail end of the blog so yeah that's about that

and i mean now that you've said that i'm just going to like
