Whoa wtf

So I went to my government class this morning, and I was there 10 minutes early. So I took out my laptop and was browsing around. About half an hour in, I noticed that there was this noise coming out of my computer, and it was really annoying. I was trying to read a thread and couldn't focus because of it, so I was like going through all my open tabs and applications to check what the hell was making that noise. I muted my laptop, nothing changed.
It took me about 5 minutes to realize that you actually cannot turn off your professor.
