Okay Can Be Amazing

Normally this post would be a Music Mince, but honestly I haven't listened to much music this week (which is unusual but not unheard of) and certainly nothing particularly different to the previous. So instead I'm going to use this entry to talk about something interesting I have noticed about life.

Actually, what prompted me to write this was a comment I made on another blog. That comment sort of brought something I've innately known for a while to the forefront of my mind.

A lot of the time, we go through bad patches. We experience things that we don't like, we have arguments, we lose friends or we find ourselves emotionally strained... sometimes all of these things can even happen at once. I know for myself this rings true, I've got some things going on in my life that are making me rather unhappy right now even.

Today however, I had an okay day. I mean, I couldn't get into the studio to do the usual Sunday practice because my partner was unavailable which sucks, however I got to spend the day getting some much needed rest and recuperation and this evening I went out with some friends I haven't seen for a long time to see Mission Impossible: Shadow Nation. I have been out of touch with most of the people I know, including close friends, for a while now so it was really nice to spend time with people outside of dancing again.

I had a really good time with my friends tonight. We had a good chat, we laughed and enjoyed the film and I even finally met the boyfriend of one of them. She's been one of my closest friends for years so it was about time! So, despite the missed practice and the generally crap mood I've been in lately I had a really good time.

So, what is it that I'm trying to say? Well that's exactly it. The really great days, the days we will treasure forever, are few and far between and generally speaking there's a lot of things that can upset us or make life a bit miserable. The plus side to this though, is that after every bad patch you're going to have a normal day and you're going to enjoy that normal day a lot more than you usually would. I'm possibly going to forget today even happened in a few months time, maybe if I'm lucky some particularly memorable details will stick. Either way it wasn't anything special, but it didn't have to be. Sometimes an ordinary day can be the greatest thing in the world. They pick us up after a bad patch, making all the difference, but they don't spoil the truly wonderful days either. Okay days are pretty amazing really.
