    Axeliira

"Meet the PokeCommunity'ers" is a series of the Daily Bloggity in which I have a one-on-one with specific members of PC in which we can get to know them more. All responses are in their own words, and questions were made on a general basis. If you would like to see a specific user in the next edition, comment below! This will be a weekly series appearing in the Daily Bloggity at 5 PM Eastern Time every Sunday.

    Date: 04 January 2015
    Time: 12:44 AM ET
Mood: Embracing my inner Ron Burgandy

[css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"]When did you become a member of PokeCommunity and how did you come across it?[/css-div]Well, I was 19 years old and finishing up my Freshman year of college. I was bouncing back into Pokemon by replaying my most favorite Pokemon game of all time: Pokemon Silver Version. I discovered the wonderful world of emulators so I ended up playing the game on my laptop. I became pretty obsessed with it at the time, trying to get my friends into it…but they weren't as huge fans as I am, which was sad for me. So, one night, I got pretty bored, and I was browsing Bulbapedia for any Pokemon news. I pulled up Google and searched for "pokemon forum". The PokeCommunity was the first website that appeared on the results. I ended up clicking on it and began to explore a little before deciding to join. June 3rd, 2010 was the day I joined the forums. The ROM Hacking section is what caught my eye, and I wanted to learn more about it at the time.

[css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"]Did you ever envision yourself creating your own ROM Hack, or did you more join over because you wanted to play other people's ROMs?[/css-div]I did at first, because as you may or may not know, I have an extensive imagination that at times it can get pretty crazy, which is why I describe myself as weird and random. xD When I first stepped inside the ROM hacking boards, I felt inspired by the creations around me, especially with games like Shiny Gold, Snakewood, Flora Sky, and many others. I wanted to put a game out that many people want to play, that was my goal at the time. But then I discovered that it actually takes more than one person to do one game…and doing the game myself was a lot of work. So I resented, and decided to put the rom hack project aside. I still have the files, sprites and the storyline somewhere in my OneDrive, haven't touched them since. My project was going to be called Pokemon ThunderGold, by the way, a FireRed hack.

[css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"]What is the significance or origin behind your username? Past usernames?[/css-div]My current username is a username that I am totally proud of. I created it out of random by just combining two regular names and then pronouncing it backwards. Originally it was supposed to be "Arilexa" made of two names Alexa and Ariana. Used that name for a while when I first started to become a regular on the Battle Server, then I remember some random peep used my name backwards, Axelira, and I thought that was pretty cool, so I used that one instead, but adding an extra I to make it as Axeliira. I actually do like creating my own, original names. I use this name everywhere! My previous username was a tribute to one of my favorite NASCAR drivers, Denny Hamlin. Right now he is in the top 8 in the NASCAR Chase for the Sprint Cup Championship, I'm purely excited that he's in the finals and I kinda regret the fact that I changed my name earlier than anticipated. Haha. I was in a collab with Jeff Gordon. Then there's Minerva and Cadance. Minerva is the goddess of wisdom and war, and it's also my Pokemon X trainer IGN. Cadance is a princess pony from MLP. I was using this name in a collaboration with my pair Buoysel, who was Shining Armour at the time. My original, joining name was Meganium90. I wasn't sure on what name I wanted to go for. So I got lazy and named myself that and immediately I regret it. Meganium is my favorite Pokemon of all time, and the 90 is my birth year.

[css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"]Considering you have such a rich background of usernames, I'm sure that you've possibly put into thought of what your next username is going to be. Do you plan on changing it in the next quarter when username changes are open again and if so, what are you trying to decide upon?[/css-div]I have like… 40+ names to choose from, not gonna lie. There's so many names I wanna use but I always end up choosing a brand new one at the last minute. I might either go for Sierra, Ariyanna, Meganium, or Sunset Shimmer. Sierra and Ariyanna are two of my most favorite girl names out there, and if I ever decide to have kids I'm going to give them those names. Meganium…well, it's obvious as to why! Sunset Shimmer is a character from MLP that mostly appears in the Equestria Girls movies. So yeah, as you can tell I am having a hard time deciding.

[css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"]Which forum do you see yourself gravitating towards the most and why?[/css-div]To be quite honest, I had to look up "gravitate" in a dictionary to see if I'm responding to this correctly! xD ANYWAYS, the forum I find myself graaaaavitating the most would be The Welcome Lounge. As many of you may or may not know, I used to moderate The Welcome Lounge back in 2011, back then it was called New Users/Welcome. I developed a keen love for newbies during my time as a regular, and with that, I was promoted! Today I still have that unconditional love towards the new members that step into the doors of the PokeCommunity and I am so glad that current mod Dragon, as well as former mods Sheep and Synerjee are keeping that flame torch alive. Whenever I have time on PC and got nothing to post, I stop by TWL to post a couple greets and throw a "hello" at a few newbies. Something I still do since I left my position as TWL mod.

[css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"]What was your reasoning behind leaving your position as the Welcome Lounge Moderator? What made you decide to come back to PC after doing such?[/css-div]To be quite honest, at that time I felt that PC was taking so much of my free time, and I really wanted to try other things. Plus I sucked at time management at the time, and I was starting a new semester at school after taking time off. I wanted to focus on life in general, so it was tough to let go of TWL. I am the reason why Sheep is on staff! xD But anyways, I got almost inactive for most of 2013, and rebounded after Summer ended, resulting in meeting great peeps as well as getting reacquainted with older friends. It has also allowed me to fix up my time management and restrict myself to using PC for no more than three times a day. That resulted me in becoming a lot more active than I intended to be. I also never really intended on becoming staff for the 2nd time, buuuut I guess it happened? xD Not that I'm complaining though!

[css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"]If you could make any improvement to the site, what would it be and why? If you can't think of anything, what would you like to stay consistent?[/css-div]I honestly think PC is fine as it is. Back in the day, we couldn't change our names, like posts, get quote notifications, automatic signature-offense detectors (aka scrollbars on your sigs if you exceed the width/height), or even so, have our own Battle Server. Today, with thanks to the administration team, we have all that, and it wouldn't even be possible without them. One thing I'd like to improve is the emblem system. Emblems are my absolute favorite thing here at PokeCommunity, and today I have no idea how many emblems are out there, nor I have no idea how long they have existed. There are some emblems that are given out once, and then they just sit there gathering dust with no one else able to achieve said emblems. If there was any way possible to revamp the Emblem system with emblems that can be repeatedly given, such as the ones the staff give out when people request them (Committed, Veteran, Birthday), I figured it'd be much cleaner that way.

    Spoiler:
[css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"]What was your reaction like when you found out you were modded?[/css-div]It was February 20th of this year when I was making me some lunch and getting ready for my 3:30 Writing class. I was trying to get everything ready and all, doing my hair, finding an outfit, all that. xD Then I hop on to Twitter and found out that Sheep @replied me, telling me to "get on PC whenever you can". Immediately replied with "okay will do!". Then as I got on PC, Shenanigans greeted me on skype and asked me if I was busy. I *waaaaaaas* but I did had a bit of time to quickly check PC just as Sheep had asked me to. Upon getting on PC, I got a private message from Sheep, when I spotted the words "would you like to come back to staff?" I started to FLIP OUT LIKE CRAAAAAAAZY and started screaming around the house (and thankfully NO ONE WAS HOME AT THE TIME or else I'd scare my family haha). Seconds later I got thrown in a joint conversation with Shenanigans and Sheep, telling me that they were just joking and messing around with me and that really made me cry lmaoo. Finally, I made the official reply of "yes, I'd like to come back", and a few minutes later I got modded for the second time! It was minutes before going out the door, and my lunch burned too. Heh.

[css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"]If you could moderate any section beside the section your currently moderate on PokeCommunity, which section which you choose and why? What would be the section you would least like to moderate?[/css-div]There are a few sections I'd like to try my hand at modding. If anything, I'd like to return to The Welcome Lounge like the old days, but honestly…I really love Computers & Technology. I'm a Technology major, and I just graduated with an AS in Computer Information Systems.

Computers & Technology is one of my favorite sections. I love giving out some tech help, nerd about the latest technology, show off my iPhone (well not really…mine is a 4S and I plan to upgrade really soon). I don't think Tsutarja wouldn't mind me modding that section for just one day. Would he? Heh. The section I find myself modding the least is probably Discussions & Debates, even though I faced my fear in arguing and debating, I still don't find myself as a good mod in that section.

[css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"]What was a determining factor in becoming a Technology major and what might you like to see yourself doing with that degree under your belt?[/css-div]Primarily, taking computers apart and putting them back together is something I'm good at. Every other day I get a phone call, text, or a Facebook message from friends and family asking me about their computer questions, even asking if they want me to fix their computer after a massive gigantic derp. I even get paid for this too, even though I don't want to...it's only something I enjoy doing. I studied Networking while attending school in San Diego, and I want to focus heavily on that particular subject when I start my bachelor's in Houston. I aspire to be a network administrator or just simply a network analyst. I also like to teach with that degree as well, so a second choice would be a Technology instructor at a higher level institution.

[css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"]Why do you have a fear in debating?[/css-div]I guess, thinking about what I just said...I think it's more of "intimidation" involved rather than fear. People who are good at debating tend to have better opinions than what I have to say myself. So, honestly, it is best for me to keep my own opinions under my tongue.

[css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"]Who would you consider a role model for yourself, in real life and/or on PC?[/css-div]In real life, I would say my older sister. I grew up learning that she also suffered from Anxiety, same thing I have. She was the shyest person in school, even though she was well liked. She hated being the center of attention, and she always allowed people to treat her like a doormat. Participating in sports activities and clubs helped her get out of her shell mostly, and that carried her through college. Despite her anxiety, she is a hard worker and promotes generosity and loyalty towards our family. Today she remains that way, and that's what I love about her.

[css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"]What is your favorite pokemon and why?[/css-div]My favorite Pokemon, out of all seven hundred and nineteen Pokemon out there, it is Meganium. When I started playing Pokemon Silver for the first time, I chose Chikorita as my started, and luckily it was a female! It grew to become a Meganium and I started to be sooo emotionally attached to it. Every time I started a new file, I always went for Meganium and not the others. Today, I have three fully-evolved Meganiums in my Pokemon Bank, three of which were gifts from two awesome PC members, and one was breeded perfectly on my White and went ahead and raised it to become part of my X Pokemon party. It is almost at level 100. :D

[css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"]For argument's sake, let's say that Meganium was completely eradicated from the Pokedex and you must now choose a new favorite Pokemon. After getting over the emotional trauma that Nintendo had you suffer through, which Pokemon would you choose and why?[/css-div]How dare you, Matt. HOW DARE YOU GET RID OF THE BEST POKEMON STARTER EVER. Okay, anyways...should Meganium be eradicated from the dex, I guess I should choose either Mienshao or Leavanny. These two Pokemon have proven themselves worthy of battling when I played Pokemon White for the first time and I've always relied on them for beating the E4.

[css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"]If you were granted a wish and could wish for anything - besides more wishes and more genies - what would you wish for and why?[/css-div]Awwwww. I wish I had more wishes. But you can't lend me some sooo okay. *sadface*. BUT ANYWAYS, I wish for a car that only runs on electric power and not gas. Gas prices are still expensive here, and it's tough to get around here with a full tank, especially when you have to refill here every week or two. It sucks. Can I still wish for a personal assistant though?

Daily Comic - "Art Delivery" by Cyanide & Happiness
    Spoiler:
[css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"]What exactly would you do with this personal assistant if you were granted one?[/css-div]I need this person to do my errands, visit places, talk to people, and make me good food because I never really have that much time to do so during the week, after work, school, family life...I need more free time, ya know? Haha.

[css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"]What is your favorite video game or series and why?[/css-div]Ahhh this is a toughie! I am a gamer myself, although I lean towards the classics rather than current games, really. Let me tell you about Syphon Filter. This is my all-time favorite video game series that came out on PS1, PS2 and the PSP. It's underrated because people think it's a Metal Gear ripoff, but I think it's waaaay different. Syphon Filter is basically about two operatives, Gabe and Lian, fight their way to prevent a deadly man-made biological weapon that is targeted to specific demographics. The series is six games, with Syphon Filter 2 being my favorite from the series, because it mainly focuses on Lian and how Syphon Filter affects her and her body. I find myself replaying these games, as well as watching Let's Plays of the game. It was my first shooting game that I played when I was 11, and it really captivated me! If you're itching for a third-person shooter game with lots of action and a very good storyline, go for this one. I'm about to watch another let's play video of the third Syphon Filter game.

[css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"]Who is your favorite video game character and why?[/css-div]Referring back to Syphon Filter, Lian Xing is my favorite video game character. That woman has been through so much. Getting ambushed in Afghanistan, getting locked up in a woman's gulag in Siberia, and most of all, risking her life alongside her agent partner Gabe. You can immediately tell in the game series that she has way too many flaws, even though she doesn't really show them.

[css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"]What would you say is your dream vacation?[/css-div]All my life I've been meaning to go to Italy…ever since I was a little girl. Now, I don't think I could make that dream come true anytime soon, but hopefully if I get married, I want to go to Italy on my Honeymoon. Heh. I freaking love Italian food, huge fan. Pizzas, pastas, Italian breads, and sooo much more. Oh, and Italian dressing is my favorite!~ If you watched The Lizzie McGuire Movie in the past, the movie took place in Rome, and it was so beautiful. <3

[css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"]If you were allowed to visit 3 cities/attractions in Italy, where would you go and why? (And if you have to do some research on this question, I'm sorry in advance if I make you more upset that you feel like you can't go anytime soon haha.)[/css-div]Rome, Venice, and Sicily. But I really want to go to Rome though. Has anyone visited the Trevi Fountain? Yeah, it's on my bucket list.

    [css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"]Who is your favorite artist/song?[/css-div]
I could say that P!nk is my all-time favorite music artist. I own all her albums and all her songs are absolutely perfect. Listen to "Please Don't Leave Me", it is an amazing song and it reminds me of my current friendship with my best friend. <3 I can't say what other song reminds me of us other than that one.

[css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"]What would you say is your favorite TV or cartoon to watch as a kid? [/css-div]DUDE. I AM A HUGE 90'S CARTOON JUNKIE. I find myself watching more 90's cartoons more than probably anyone around. There's a site I go to all the time (saaaadly I cannot link here because I'll probably break rules but if you inquire privately I'll give it to you!!) that streams 90's cartoons all the freakin' time and I find myself watching that stream a lot more than Netflix and my 1000 channel satellite television combined. Haha. Anyways, back to the question here, my favorite cartoon would be Doug…the Nickelodeon version. I freaking love Doug. He's my favorite cartoon character. He inspired me to keep a journal for myself, documenting the things in my life and keeping the memories alive.

Daily Video - "Syphon Filter - Trailer (1999)" by YouTuber FoxHand
    Spoiler:
[css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"]Do you still use this journal? What made you want to create it?[/css-div]Right now, I have a 365 days journal. I used to keep it as a private blog online, but I skipped so many days. So I had to document as much as I could up to the current day. I'm up to date now, and now I have to write about doing this interview with you! It was actually my psychologist's idea of making one, rather than my own. I went for it because she thinks it's an easier way to pinpoint my flaws according to my constant anxiety

[css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"]Outside of PokeCommunity, what are your favorite hobbies? What interests you?[/css-div]Wait…what are hobbies again? Ever since I started my job a couple of months ago, I've lost touch with my hobbies. Most of free time I spend are on the internet, not only because of PC and other forums I browse, but I also like to read the news online, especially technology news, as well as browse Reddit sometimes. I do like to read books. It literally refuels your brain. I find myself going to the library every week because it's a great place for my mind to wander around safely. Other things I like to do are cooking, crafting, photography, video gaming, and sports (either physically or just watching the games on TV…if that counts!)

[css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"]It sounds to me like you actually do have a lot of hobbies haha. Read any good books lately which you'd like to recommend to people?[/css-div]If you're looking for a good author, go read every single book that's written by Rainbow Rowell. I already read Fangirl, and I just finished with Landline, which was her recent book, and now soon I'm gonna start with Eleanor & Park, which is set to be a movie in a year or so. Rainbow Rowell is such a fantastic writer and I admire her work. If you're a fandomer like myself who likes to browse tumblr, read fanfiction, and browse forums, Fangirl is the perfect book to read.

[css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"]What is your job currently and how is it thus far?[/css-div]Because of security reasons, I won't say what store I'm working for, but I will say that my workplace is a discount clothing store. I was pretty nervous at first in starting, because the workers there seemed pretty intimidating. But the best thing about it is that the managers are pretty friendly and chill, and they don't mind if you make a mistake or two. They think that it's "part of the learning process". Most of the time I'm guarding the Fitting Room, other times I'm either recovering on sales floor, stocking ,or ringing up customers. But I do like sales floor the most, because I end up leaving the store spotless for the next business day.

[css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"]Want to give a shoutout to a fellow PC'er?[/css-div]Sooo many peeps I want to give a shout out to! Shoutout to my punching bag, Jeff Gordon. He sucks but I <3 him regardless. Shoutout to Kanzler, one of my pairs. Hope life is treating you alright! Shoutout to Synerjee, Peitharchia, Dragon, Tsutarja, Powalen, Sheep, Pinkie-Dawn, and pretty much all of PC staff and battle server staff! You guys are amazing and I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for you guys. I freaking love you all. Last but not least, shoutout to my best friend Buoysel, the coolest, funniest person ever, and I'm glad to have him in my life.
