Alright, so the people who know probably know me from Graphics and Photography, and possibly for giving comments that should be formatted as an essay.

Now, I want to address everyone who is either 'afraid' to leave comments in galleries / shops in G&P, or those who leave little comments because "they don't know much about graphics terms and stuff."

First of all, art is extremely subjective, so one person might love a piece while the next person hates it. This said, if you think something looks good, or looks weird/bad on a piece, say whatever it is that you think looks weird. If your comment ends up being blunt and harsh, most of the time that's a good thing! Artists cannot learn with people hiding behind niceties and making excuses of "you don't have to pay attention to what I say cause I don't do art" or whatever. If you think a colour, an effect, one side, the whole thing looks bad, say it! It only helps us out so we know what to work on to please people! This said, if you can provide justification for why you think it looks good/bad, you should give it. Don't think that this means you need graphic art terminology or examples of what will improve it. Obviously if you can, then do so, but otherwise, you can just say it feels unbalanced, doesn't feel right, too obvious, not obvious enough. Anything you want, in layman terms or advanced jargon, as long as you say something!

Which leads me onto those who just don't comment at all. If you don't think you can say anything constructively criticising about a piece, and all you have are praises, those are nice too! I get people telling me that I don't get many comments in my gallery because "my work is hard to find room for improvement." First of all, while I am extremely flattered, this is not true in any sense. Yes I am experienced, but I make some crazy stuff, most of time, stuff that a forum like this does not really cater for. Chances are, even if you think it is a good piece, there will be something you don't like. It could be anything, or it could be a positive comment, and just say nice things, BUT JUSTIFY IT!

Basically, I'm telling you all to comment more because it helps and is appreciated by the artist regardless of whether they are positive or negative comments, as long as it is justified which why you like / don't like it.

You all have opinions, you all like and dislike different things aesthetically, you have no excuses for not commenting now. Go.

EDIT: And I want to also point out, this doesn't purely go for Graphics and Photography. Any kind of art, literature, hacks, basically anything creative will benefit by reading this. So if you are a spriter, don't think this doesn't apply to you.

The great thing about art is that while not everyone can make it, everyone can appreciate it, so you don't have to be an artist to critique someone's art or a writer to critique someone's poem/fanfiction, especially since the people you'll be showing it to mostly won't be writers/artists so their opinion is even more important.

Yeah idk if that made sense or if I even added anything. xD
