  • Oh my god, this was such a good episode of The Walking Dead. The episode just ended, so I'm going to go off and give my thoughts on the show.

    SPOILERS FOLLOW

The last episode left us off with multiple cliff hangers, particularly Daryl's departure from the group, Rick's hallucination of his dead wife Lori, and most importantly the escalating war between Rick's group and the Governor's. "House" manages to do a brilliant job at furthering the storyline in all three cases, the last one especially.

Those who've heard my opinions of Daryl know that I totally expected him to be back in this episode and in the show in general. Daryl's character is a moneymaker since so many people love him. To keep him off TV would be stupid and keeping him away from Rick's group for a long period of time would be stupid as well. That being said, I'm quite happy that the show decided to have Daryl return so soon. They even managed to give a very good idea as to why Daryl wanted to go back. The whole argument between Daryl and Merle helping out the Mexian survivors, and in particular the baby, was brilliant. That being said, I sort of expected Merle to be more vicious that Daryl raised his weapon against him, but I'm not complaining.

The whole Lori-hallucination part was a little drawn out, but it was important for several reasons. For one thing, it totally shows how badly Rick is losing control of himself, and the others notice. And with Daryl gone (for the moment) and Rick in loopy town, Glen proclaims to be the man in charge, which is a nice segway to the issues concerning Glen, Maggie, and Hershel. Glen's obviously become more developed throughout this whole show, but his actions in this episode prove that he can be reckless, since it was utter stupidity to leave the prison. Which brings us to the best part....

The battle at the end. Wow, it was intense. The way it started was insane, with poor Axle getting the ax from the show. I didn't expect him to die so soon, I totally thought he'd at least make a move on Carol before kicking the bucket. Still, the whole battle was totally amazing, especially with the zombie bomb that was thrown in. I literally feared for Hershel's life, I didn't think he'd make it. The way the battle was set up was perfect, with Rick on the outside and the Dixons coming to his aid. The scene with Carol using Axle's body for cover was sad but well thought. The show was right to close the episode off at this scene, cause it left me craving to know how Rick's group would retaliate.

This episode did a good lot to raise my interest in the show. Last review, I whined about how the battle between factions hadn't happened. Well, I got it, with the Governor making the first move. And in my opinion, it was perfectly executed (no pun intended). A lot of questions were also raised. Particularly whatever happened to Tyreese's group, and also who the hell was driving the ruck full of zombies? Seemed like a woman, but it couldn't have been Andrea. As well as what the bloody hell Rick's state of mind is. Was this a great episode? Yesyesyes. The ONLY problem I had was that the first half hour seemed a tad bit slow, but the second half definitely made up for it. Watch it if you haven't.

Final Review (out of 5): ****1/4

  • My god, this episode was crazy! I agree the first part was a little slow, and when Rick went chasing after Lori I was upset more than anything that that... WOMAN was still on the show. Ugh.

I found it interesting how Glenn took control, or tried to at least. I'm glad Maggie defended herself/the situation that had happened against his anger. (I doubt that makes sense but hopefully you understand what I'm trying to say!) And I liked the moment between Maggie and Beth.

As for Carol and Axel, I really wanted SOMETHING to happen before Axel died, but sigh no happiness for Carol I guess. I'll be interested in what happens... AND OMG YES DARYL IS BACK!

Also Andrea, figure out what you're doing with your life please :(

Next episode should be interesting now that the two sides have each messed up each others turf. And I'm guessing the person in the riot shield gear with the zombies was the person that was stalking someone earlier in the season?

Oh another TWD fan! We must chat about because I love it!!! But yeah last nights episode was insane.

As Golurk mentioned it started off slow and weird(if I see Lori ever again I am going to scream). There has to be a reason that she keeps appearing, but maybe we will find that out soon. I also am glad that Rick finally is realizing that he is going crazy admitting that he is having these weird visions.

I think that some of the tension between Glen and Maggie is a little much, idk but Maggie is such a strong character I was glad to see her defend herself, because I think that she felt Glen was in a weird and unexplainable way blaming her for what happened to them in Woodbury.

One of my favorite moments of the episode was seeing Michonne finally speak. She is so badass and her Walker killing self makes her one of the strongest and most likeable characters on the show.

Darly, who is my favorite character, definetly made the right decision by returning to the group. Not quite sure why Merle tagged along or how the rest will respond when they finally see him again(I am worried that Glen will try something that could get him killed, but lets hope not.) I just want Merle out of the show once and for all.

HOW DID HERSHEL SURVIVE AGAIN? This is like the 5th episode where I have said he will die. I think that he is an amazing character, but they are dragging out his inevitable death. The sooner the better imo.

Beth has gotten some amazing character development these past two episodes. Her taking on this "mother" role has really made her shine. Hopefully she will not get killed off anytime soon because she is quickly turning into one of the more likeable characters.

I was really disappointed to see Axel die he was the only survivor of the prison which made him special. He was also very likeable. I kinda knew he was next to die when Daryl decided to return and refill his spot as Carol's "partner" if I might say.

There isn't much to say about Carl as he hasn't had much action since the season resumed, but I hope he has more scenes where he continues to grow and mature as he has over the past season.

I really hope that Tyrese and his group return soon, because I believe they are exactly what the group needs. With Rick unstable, Glen on suicide missions, and Daryl having to deal with his brother the group is in need of another strong leader.

As for the Governor I really really hate this guy, but he makes the show interesting. I hate how he is manipulating Andrea and the town of Woodbury and I believe that his evilness has just begun. I don't see him dieing anytime soon.

And last but not least is the wonderful Andrea. Where do I begin? Andrea has really had it tough since the show began, and to make things worse she always falls for the bad guy(The Governor and Shane) I am glad that she is starting to question the governor, but in the end I believe she will have to decide between his life and her friends. I hope she makes the right decision. She really needs to get her act together.

All in all this was a good episode. The last 10 minutes were more exciting than the last two episodes combined, but next week I think that there will be a lot more action. Possibly the entire episode. I cannot wait to see when Andrea finally faces Rick again. Will he accept her back? Will he think that she is a part of the attack on the prison? The rest of the season should really be great!

  • Oh, I forgot to go indepth with the Maggie/Glenn situation, whoops. I'm really happy that Maggie was able to defend herself and give her side of what happened and how it happened, that was really important.

I still feel like Michonne hasn't said enough, her character's pretty underdeveloped at this point. She got a decent amount of screentime, at the very least. Carl, on the other hand, actually got barely any screentime. Hopefully that's only that one episode.

And what was the diolouge between Merle and Daryl when he saw his brother's scars? I missed that cause my sisters were being rowdy ugh.

For the record, I like Merle's character. I don't want him to die =P
