PROVE. ME. WRONG. Didn't think so.

Also, a short rant on signature/theme rating if you don't mind. So, I've been noticing a few instances of people who rate themes mostly based on the identity of the people used in said themes. Such ratings including statements such as "I love that character! *high score*" or "I don't know who that is *low score*". I've seen some really good themes that were told that they weren't good because the rater didn't know the source. Vice versa, I've seen a lot of relatively bad themes that got good ratings because they had characters that the rater liked. When it comes to these kind of things, shouldn't it be the general appearance overall that matter? If you really care about design, it should be how well your use of images, text, and color meshes together to make something appealing over how many of you can put your favorite character ever into your signature or avatar. Taking into account a character's traits and incorporating them in appealing way is also a good way so that a person who don't know the source of the image can enjoy it as well is also a good technique. What I don't like to see are just images of characters/series and then a quote or something and that's it. No coloring, positioning, or anything. I'm starting to repeat myself aren't I?

tl;dr: I like themes that appeal to everyone, not those that would only appeal to those that understand injokes.

Then again, most of the rating threads are kids anyway, so it can't be helped.

ALSO ALSO ALSO ALSO, nobody reads the text or plays the music in your signature (or at least I don't). If you're going to include it, make it look nice.

OK, I think I'm done on my signature rants.

I read all the text in every signature I see. xD; I don't listen to the music though. It's a forum, no one's staying on that one page long enough to hear an entire song.

I definitely agree with your rant though. I've seen ratings that say "1/10 who is that? ._." to a really beautiful theme, which is just depressing. I can't say I've seen the reverse, but I can image how it can be incredibly annoying.

I just hate the sigs with hack support banners, ugly bright neon text, ugly ms paint banners, and...even though I mod it and love the section to death, the challenge support banners and list of completed/in progress challenges. :(

Such ratings including statements such as "I love that character! *high score*" or "I don't know who that is *low score*".

You don't know how much that irks me. It's right up there with those goddamn revenge rates.

Also agreeing with Sydian on the support banners and neon text (unless you can make it look good, like Pokestick did).

Agreeing completely. I was really, really annoyed when someone rated one of my themes 1/10 for not knowing the character. It may not have been my best theme, but hell it did not deserve that low of a score.

Yeah, seconded, thirded, fourthed, seventhed, whatever. I tend to use the odd character that nobody recognises. Heck, sometimes I even use characters I don't recognise, just because I like the render. And I post in the RMS thread a lot, and I've noticed these things too.

Another thing that annoys me is people that, when given a low rating, will say a bit further down the track (to someone else) 'Gee, that's nice of you! Not like somebody else who rated my signature two out of ten, gosh!' Dude, I rated your sig two stars because it sucked. The CSS might've been alright, but the sprite was dodgy, the background was ugly and made the text illegible, and so on and so forth etc etc.

Also revenge-rates. You give someone 3/10 and they come back straight away with a 1/10 for no good reason.

Also, lol at irl celebrity icons. The only one I ever considered using was Hayley Williams. Because, you know. HAYLEY WILLIAMS. It does seem that way to me, though.

Honestly, I DO RATE the theme based on what I know. You know how many points that's worth? 1.

If the signature is super epic and I give it a 9 but less than a 10, it's because either I didn't like the theme personally, or I don't like the character.

But that's only one point really. 9/10 is usually the best I give, it's hard to get a ten out of me or anyone tbh.

Also: who cares about how someone rates it. If you don't like that person's rating, post again, rate theirs fairly and keep on posting until you get an idea of what people give it on average.
