Life Update

It has been quite a while since I last managed to get a blog post up, however not overly much has happened in my life to give me anything worth writing about just recently. I have't even really listened to different music so a Music Mince was out of the question.

Being totally honest, most things haven't changed. I'm still questioning how I'm going to get anyway with university, I'm still lonely and I still spend an unnatural amount of time on PC. Some good things have happened though. First and foremost is that I've grown quite close to a friend as of late, we've been somewhat leaning on each other to get through our respective problems and I think it has done us good to have someone to depend on. Here's hoping that this is a lifelong friendship and not just another one of those brief "I need someone and you'll do" periods.

Friends or no however, most of the things that have been happening in my life are dance-related. Last weekend I attended my first comp for the year and so did three of my students. Unfortunately none of my students placed, however I was really proud of the effort and improvement two of them showed - the third needs to stop being so damn lazy. They've come a long way and I look forward to seeing how things go. Unfortunately I didn't get to compete because my partner decided she was too sick to dance about five minutes before our event.

Somewhat more exciting is that I should have four more new pupils starting private lessons with me soon. A woman and her two children as well as a girl I teach in a group class. All four of them look really promising and it's always good to earn some more money.

I might also have a second dance partner myself soon. For a long time now I have only been competing in 1/3 styles of ballroom and I have been looking to get back into the other two with a second partner (thank God that's allowed because the current partner refuses to do the other styles). It's been a long search since I'm tall and admittedly also quite picky but there's a couple of people who could fill the place, one of whom looks particularly promising. Hopefully this means I'll be enjoying the entirety of the competitive experience in the near future.

So yeah, whilst I'm not about to say that things have magically gotten better I do have some things I'm really happy about and I'm glad that I'm building stronger friendships and finally pushing my hobby and career forwards a little.
