Over a year ago, I made a blog entry about Grand Theft Auto IV and how I was going around killing pigeons, who were called "Flying Rats" in the game and said that they were diseased. When I made my entry at that time, I killed about 40 of them.
I beat the game months ago and forgot about my mission of killing flying rats. it wasn't until I just felt like trying to get 100% completion on GTA IV that I decided to finish the job, so to speak. I spent the next few days going around killing the remaining 160 rats left in the city. With the help of the Brady Games guide for GTA IV, I did just that. I followed the number listing of where each bird was at and I had to go EVERYWHERE to find and shoot them.
After almost killing all of them, there was 1 that I missed. I found it in a spot that I looked earlier but dismissed it believing that I already got that one. However, a close look at the picture provided in the book shows an area I overlooked.
So, I went to that area and sure enough, there it was. I decided to kill it my way. After getting back into the boat, I threw a grenade where the flying rat was and stood back as the grenade blew up and feathers flew all around. I was rewarded with this lovely message.
"All diseased pigeons killed. Liberty City is a cleaner place."
That helped out with the route to 100% competition, plus I unlocked the XBox achievement for killing all them nasty rats.
