So I've decided on a cosplay for October Expo 2013~ It'll be revealed under the spoiler below. (I can't make it this May Expo, as I have an exciting wedding to attend to!) But, I'm aiming to have it done for maybe August.
Looking to see also if I can find some sort of proper pattern making classes. I usually try and find patterns to use as a base and then I alter them to make my other cosplays, or I'll just improvise.. but I really do want to learn how to actually do garment construction. I think it will just be so useful in my life. I want to be able to alter or make high end professional clothing someday, just because I love sewing. I love the problem solving of cosplay, too! But for now, I'm just going with some trail and error.
ANYWAYS.. onto the reveal:
I've already gotten some ideas for making the book light up like that; and the headpiece will be tricky, but the only real reference I have are those, so I have some room to improvise. I think the balls I will use plastic xmas baubles that split in half and are fillable (painted on the inside with nail varnish/ topcoat for a smooth finish.) Since I've been working at the gym so hard, I want to finally be able to cosplay something where I show my belly. I've.. never really shown my belly in public because I'm just too self conscious about it.. so I think with this, it's a big leap forward for me :3
If I have time, I want to try something more constructed with lining eventually, but that'll be further down the lines.
I'm not going to start it until after the wedding.. but wish me luck!
