Ah, this episode makes so little sense. Seriously. Watch it. It makes NO SENSE. First of all, we're told that LEvels do exist, and as anybody who's played the game knows, they're really all that matter in game at this point. But then we're told that Pikachu can overcome being level 3 by fighting dirty. Great. Next time I'm facing a ground-type with my Pikachu, I'll make sure to press the "Cheat" button.

And then there's Giselle. First, she was the annoying female dog character, which is fine. Antagonists are a GOOD thing. Except then, she's magically a nice person because she got her ass handed to her. No mention of the other kids, of course, who were being just as evil to Joe at the beginning. Joe, of course, being the character that can't make up his mind whether he's grateful to Ash for saving him from the bullies, superior despite the fact that he's goddamn useless, or just a bit of a stalker. It boggles the mind.

That said, the episode wasn't too bad apart from the mind-breaking characters and I find it amusing how Ash getting hit with a log was left in, but they cut out the bit where Misty hits Brock. Because that would be SO much worse. My ELOT:

    Spoiler:

  • 'Herbal' and 'erbal' are both correct, yes. The latter, however, is a more American pronunciation of it which admittedly has never made any sense to me whatsoever due to the quite obvious presence of the leading aitch. I presume it is in the class of 'an historian', which makes just as much sense. People will talk about 'history', but 'an 'istory'.

The mind boggles at the convoluted workings of the English language.
