Good grief, this was one long and harrowing day. You guys wouldn't BELIEVE the massive screw-up I made at Regionals! So I had my Piloswine fully trained and everything... but I didn't realize I didn't evolve it until AFTER I got registered! I wasn't allowed to cancel registration to fix my Piloswine so I was out of luck. Off to battle I go with a Piloswine using a Mamoswine set! Oops? Well against all odds, I ended up with 6 wins and 3 losses.
Round 1: Loss
Opponent's Pokemon: Mega Charizard Y, Venusaur, Espeon, Garchomp, Talonflame, Rotom-W
Round 2: Win
Opponent's Pokemon: Greninja, Sylveon, Garchomp, Rotom-W, Cloyster, Hydreigon
Round 3: Win
Opponent's Pokemon: Amoongus, Mega Manectric, Scizor, Kingdra, Politoed, Mienshao
Round 4: Loss
Opponent's Pokemon: Garchomp, Mawile, Exeggutor, Scrafty, Rotom-W, Hydreigon
Round 5: Win
Opponent's Pokemon: Talonflame, Mamoswine, Mega Manectric, Rotom-C, Munchlax (what the), ???
Round 6: Win
Opponent's Pokemon: Didn't record this battle at all, sorry!
Round 7: Win
Opponent's Pokemon: Rotom-H, Kangaskan, Amoongus, Gyarados, Lucario, Garchomp
Round 8: Win
Opponent's Pokemon: Talonflame, Tyranitar, Scizor, Rotom-W, Amoongus, Kangaskan
Round 9: Loss
Opponent's Pokemon: Mega Manectric, Amoongus, Garchomp, Scrafty, Gyarados, Rotom-H
Well, this regional is over and I took the time right afterwards to properly EVOLVE my Piloswine. To be honest, except for one battle, I don't think the screw-up affected my win/loss ratio. No one's been expecting a Piloswine and literally everyone assumed that it was holding Eviolite and I was able to use that to my advantage. Piloswine was able to outspeed a number of things most people would have never expected and the amount of damage it lost from not being a Mamoswine didn't really change the KO rate it got. This baby was responsible for a third of the KOs I managed to get.
MVPs: Piloswine, Venusaur and Talonflame
Flops: Ampharos
Piloswine: See above
Talonflame: People don't expect to see a Protect Talonflame. They all expect the Quick Guard variety... and most people actually carried the Quick Guard one. I was able to abuse this a lot since I often used Flare Blitz first turn it's out to dodge the Quick Guard, and proceed to Brave Bird them to death on the second turn. Talonflame is easily responsible for a third of all my KOs.
Venusaur: Do you guys realize how accurate Sleep Powder is? It is really, friggin' accurate. Add onto that the mixed set it carries and its natural bulkiness and you have a 'mon that is extremely difficult to kill... and very powerful as well.
Ampharos: Ehh, truthfully I brought Ampharos specifically to deal with Mega Manectric and Mega Charizard if Mamoswine (not Piloswine) wasn't able to knock them out. I used Venusaur in almost every other battle instead of Ampharos.
Round 1: Loss
Opponent's Pokemon: Mega Charizard Y, Venusaur, Espeon, Garchomp, Talonflame, Rotom-W
I don't actually remember much about this battle. What I do remember is that I was able to KO both Espeon and Talonflame easily because my opponent mispredicted my own Talonflame moves and pretty much ended up letting me kill his first two 'mon and not doing damage to me. And then Mega Charizard and Garchomp came out and proceeded to barrel through my team.
Round 2: Win
Opponent's Pokemon: Greninja, Sylveon, Garchomp, Rotom-W, Cloyster, Hydreigon
This battle was really fun. We each KOed 2 'mon from each side, leaving me with a Mega Venusaur and Piloswine and him with a Hydreigon and something else. He KOs my Piloswine and hits me with a Flamethrower while I KO that uhh, I think it was a Garchomp. Well, I forgot to Mega Evolve when he flamed me so he left me with like 30 HP or so. I Mega Evolve and proceeded to kill the Hydreigon. Garchomp for some reason decides to EQ me, leaving me with like 6 HP and I was able to heal off the damage with Synthesis. He wasn't able to kill my Venusaur at that point since he did something like 1/5 damage every hit. Won 1-0.
Round 3: Win
Opponent's Pokemon: Amoongus, Mega Manectric, Scizor, Kingdra, Politoed, Mienshao
The only rain team I saw in this entire tournament. For some unknown reason, my opponent doesn't bring out Mega Manectric, which is one of the two problem 'mon I have a lot of trouble with. Well once again my opponent doesn't predict my Talonflame correctly and I end up defeating 2 of his 'mon. Then Kingdra comes out and I start having major problems. I had Talonflame spam Protect like crazy because my Mega Ampharos was gonna die and I didn't want both of my 'mon dead in the same turn. Finally he kills Ampharos and I'm left on the field with just Talonflame (mostly dead) and Piloswine left on the field. Guess what? Scarf Piloswine OUTSPEEDS Kingdra. Kingdra misses 3 Muddy Waters and I manage to 2HKO the Kingdra with Icicle Crash (I missed once). I might have survived a Muddy Water anyway because my opponent had -2 SpA thanks to Draco Meteor. Won 1-0.
Round 4: Loss
Opponent's Pokemon: Garchomp, Mawile, Exeggutor, Scrafty, Rotom-W, Hydreigon
Big massive derp-up here. My opponent had Rotom-W and Mega Mawile out while I had Mega Venusaur and Piloswine out. Since that Mawile was more dangerous than Rotom-W, I decided to EQ with Piloswine to get rid of Mawile. Well fine and dandy... until my opponent sent out Hydreigon. Well now I'm locked into a useless Earthquake and I'm doing damage to my own Venusaur. I had managed to kill Rotom-W and my opponent would have to use Flamethrower 3 times to kill my Venusaur. I was planning on Sleep Powdering the Hydreigon and drain its HP and heal myself while it was asleep. Well, it was working... until he landed a critical hit. Lost 0-1.
Round 5: Win
Opponent's Pokemon: Talonflame, Mamoswine, Mega Manectric, Rotom-C, Munchlax (what the), ???
I won this one fairly easily. He wasn't able to predict my Talonflame and I was able to KO Talonflame, Mamoswine, and Rotom-C with Talonflame (ended up suiciding but that's recoil for you). No problem against Mega Manectric, oddly enough.
Edit: Just remembered. Manectric wasn't a problem because it never Mega Evolved in the first place. Whacked it hard with EQ.

Round 6: Win
Opponent's Pokemon: Didn't record this battle at all, sorry!
Well this round, I battled our very own Ooka! It was an excellent battle and a lot of fun. Still a lot of Talonflame fun.
Round 7: Win
Opponent's Pokemon: Rotom-H, Kangaskan, Amoongus, Gyarados, Lucario, Garchomp
This was a really annoying battle. Amoongus kept putting my stuff to sleep and then healing itself with Leftovers and Giga Drain. I burned Amoongus to cancel out the leftovers and Piloswine comes out to be the hero, again!
Round 8: Win
Opponent's Pokemon: Talonflame, Tyranitar, Scizor, Rotom-W, Amoongus, Kangaskan
Can't remember this battle other than Amoongus doing bad prediction. I was able to drop it easily.
Round 9: Loss
Opponent's Pokemon: Mega Manectric, Amoongus, Garchomp, Scrafty, Gyarados, Rotom-H
This battle, this was the key battle. At this point, my score was 6-2, meaning one more win and I might end up in top cut. Unfortunately for me, my opponent was the World Championship Seniors second place finalist. Ouch! Well he battled super well, as expected. The guy switches a lot, switching Scrafty in and out at least twice and badly nerfing my Talonflame. Unfortunately I wasn't able to gain control of the match and ended up losing 0-2. Good game, mate. I found out later that he placed just below the cut-off for Top Cut, at 10th place, if I remember right.
