He aha te mea nui o te ao?
He tangata.

That's an old Maori proverb. The meaning follows thus:

What is the most important thing in the world?
It is people.
It is people.
It is people.

I think . . . I think I need to remember this. I think everybody needs to remember this.

Ahh. That's nice, I think that's the truth too.

So do you know Maori? From what I've researched at school they seem pretty cool.

I like this. I try my best to live my life by that philosophy (though I didn't know the proverb 'till now).

I don't speak Maori myself, no. But they certainly have an interesting culture. Maori people are still the subject of much discrimination in New Zealand, though, much like the Aborigines in Australia, although to, I think, a lesser extent. Setting aside my natural everybody-should-be-equal-anyway thing, it's beautiful words like this that make me wonder why.
