We would have done that with Charlie, but he was so hyper in the small space we have that he would knock things over, break things, dig things up, and we just couldn't have that. We ended up giving him to a family friend who had like 5 acres out the in the country there. He love it there.Are you kidding? My family leaves my dog outside in the backyard unless we want to play with him :]
It all depends on the animal's distinct personality. Cats can be like those dogs, and dogs can act like cats. You can pretty much tell when you get to the animal shelter most of the time though.
