What it might be is that the anime and games are nothing to compare. In the games, there are set levels, where in the anime, you can actually have your Pokemon dodge attacks, and there's no set level. I don't remember having to fight Leaf Storm at Gardenia's gym, do you? Yet in the anime, her Turtwig's using it, meaning it could be on level 45, when in the game, he's somewhere between 18-21.
yes you're prolly right about this. That always did pull me through a loop when a low leveled pokemon could know moves completely out of it's range of power
GUYS. THINK.
People who just started watching it would get bored, thus loosing several fans and..... yeah.
They gotta keep things fresh >.>
and i understand and respect that, and maybe lose against some trainers on the road who've had just as much experience as ash, but the writers shouldn't have him lose to pathetic, beggining gym leaders
Aaanyway... Yes, getting Pikachu to just sweep through the Gym Leaders would be pretty boring and possibly turn away viewers. However, there is still that lack of sense in the anime (yeah, what else is new) that could turn viewers away just as easily. After all, it obviously annoys Chibaymega12 enough to make a thread about it, and yes, it sometimes annoys me as well.
yeah, but you gotta remember, the kids honestly just love the fights, and love to see the hero win. And when the make him lose more than his fair share of times, then the kids who DO watch the show are kinda let down, and may not want to turn away from the show until the see him win when the flip the channel back for a few seconds. Haha, it doesn't annoy me THAT much, i just wanted to know what others thought on this matter.
Well basically yes its idiotic. I would have to say if cartoons did follow realism then heck team rocket would be dead, brock would be a mad murderous rapist for all the times a girl denied him, misty may and dawn would always be in the same bed as ash and they would be in college by now. But thats just my opinion.
HAHAHA, this made me laugh for a good thirty seconds. But yeah, you're right.
What I want to know is, since Ash is based on Red from the Manga, why does he suck so bad? I mean the Anime is suppose to be based off the Manga right? with similar characters?
Red became the Hero of Kanto, an ultimate force of destruction that obliterated part of Viridian city fighting Giovanni, yet Ash wins really hard battles by sheer luck and in the beginning gained most of his gym badges were given too him out of sympathy for whatever reason.
All I'm saying is, Ash is a poorly made character, he doesn't look any older than he did when he first got Pikachu, he should be like as tall as Brock now.
It's frustrating, because he is like one of those people who rush through Pokemon games severely under leveled and struggle with every battle, yet he's pikachu's level should be in the High 80's or late 70's by now...
That should put it nearly on par with the power of something like Zapdos...yet team rocket still seem to manage capturing it 90% of the time... At least Jessie, James & Meowth don't exist in the Manga
i'd never thought of it that way, but this turn me more against what the anime is feeding us
The Anime is NOT based off the Manga ><!
The Manga is based off the game
The Anime is based off the game, they aren't related.
And Ash isn't relaly "poorly made"
Just generic...
And silly.
Incorrect. This isn't always the case in the game-manga-anime cycle. USUALLY that's how it goes. But in pokemon, it started out with the little pocket toys with monsters in them that people could battle, then came the games, then the manga: each based off the aformentioned. When the anime came along, it took bits from the game and manga, and combined them, and based the actual character off Red, not neccesarrily the story.
