Alright, i'm about fed up with this. Ash has been carrying around this Pikachu for Ten Seasons. In anime time... what, 4-5 years? We've seen Pikachu volt tackle things to kingdom come, thunderbolt hundreds of pokemon and knock them out with a single hit, iron tail hundreds of pokemon to gain the edge in battle, etc. But, lets count the times that Pikachu has lost miserably in a battle he should've easily won. TOO many to count.

Also, after his time at the battle frontier, where he "Perfected his skills and strategies" and "Came up with a battle style all his own" Shouldn't he be taking out the mediocre gym leaders, even with his new pokemon? I can understand wanting to make the anime more interesting, but lets look at realism for a bit. Pikachu should be able to take out whole teams of pokemon with a thunderbolt after four years without missing a battle. And if that doesn't work, his "Ultimate Strategy and Style" should be wiping them out...

    leave your comments on this...

You can't have him winning every single battle, they should just have Ash use his new Pokemon for the gym battles more.

I still lose with a Pokémon I have been using for years so why can't Ash's Pikachu lose once in a while.

PS. Proof that in the world of Pokémon there is no such thing as Action Replay

To think a lot is very harmful for your health...

    -.-

Aaanyway... Yes, getting Pikachu to just sweep through the Gym Leaders would be pretty boring and possibly turn away viewers. However, there is still that lack of sense in the anime (yeah, what else is new) that could turn viewers away just as easily. After all, it obviously annoys Chibaymega12 enough to make a thread about it, and yes, it sometimes annoys me as well.

Well basically yes its idiotic. I would have to say if cartoons did follow realism then heck team rocket would be dead, brock would be a mad murderous rapist for all the times a girl denied him, misty may and dawn would always be in the same bed as ash and they would be in college by now. But thats just my opinion.

Goodness. I can't stand Pikachu, and Ash's Pikachu just makes it worse.

I've never liked Ash's Pikachu. Ever.

I'm sick of it winning. That thing should be on level 100 by now. Oddly enough, on losing beginning gym battles, I think I may have an answer. What it might be is that the anime and games are nothing to compare. In the games, there are set levels, where in the anime, you can actually have your Pokemon dodge attacks, and there's no set level. I don't remember having to fight Leaf Storm at Gardenia's gym, do you? Yet in the anime, her Turtwig's using it, meaning it could be on level 45, when in the game, he's somewhere between 18-21.

Well what bugs me is that you see ash win with pokemon like Turtwig. I mean he almost never evolves his pokemon and can somehow beat evolved pokemon that should be bowling him over.

What I want to know is, since Ash is based on Red from the Manga, why does he suck so bad? I mean the Anime is suppose to be based off the Manga right? with similar characters?

Red became the Hero of Kanto, an ultimate force of destruction that obliterated part of Viridian city fighting Giovanni, yet Ash wins really hard battles by sheer luck and in the beginning gained most of his gym badges were given too him out of sympathy for whatever reason.

All I'm saying is, Ash is a poorly made character, he doesn't look any older than he did when he first got Pikachu, he should be like as tall as Brock now.

It's frustrating, because he is like one of those people who rush through Pokemon games severely under leveled and struggle with every battle, yet he's pikachu's level should be in the High 80's or late 70's by now...

That should put it nearly on par with the power of something like Zapdos...yet team rocket still seem to manage capturing it 90% of the time... At least Jessie, James & Meowth don't exist in the Manga...

Haha it's because he can't handle evolved Pokemon, I mean look one of his only evolved pokemon, Charizard...it doesn't even obey him OR belong to him for that matter.

yes you're prolly right about this. That always did pull me through a loop when a low leveled pokemon could know moves completely out of it's range of power

and i understand and respect that, and maybe lose against some trainers on the road who've had just as much experience as ash, but the writers shouldn't have him lose to pathetic, beggining gym leaders

yeah, but you gotta remember, the kids honestly just love the fights, and love to see the hero win. And when the make him lose more than his fair share of times, then the kids who DO watch the show are kinda let down, and may not want to turn away from the show until the see him win when the flip the channel back for a few seconds. Haha, it doesn't annoy me THAT much, i just wanted to know what others thought on this matter.

i'd never thought of it that way, but this turn me more against what the anime is feeding us

Incorrect. This isn't always the case in the game-manga-anime cycle. USUALLY that's how it goes. But in pokemon, it started out with the little pocket toys with monsters in them that people could battle, then came the games, then the manga: each based off the aformentioned. When the anime came along, it took bits from the game and manga, and combined them, and based the actual character off Red, not neccesarrily the story.

*sigh* There are NO levels in the anime. Does your cat gain EXP for killing a bird? It might get stronger (I don't see how, but Pokemon battle so yeah, different there) but Pokemon would have good and bad days like people. So, sometimes Ash isn't really thinking (as much...) or Pikachu is just tired. Doesn't explain how Pikachu ties with an Elekid and *just* wins against a Roselia after 1HKOing a Regice, though haha.

...Jorah... in the world of pokemon, pokemon get stronger by battling other pokemon. What you're saying would make sense in our world, but in the anime, pokemon are being TRAINED as battling machines to see who can conduct their pokemon in the best strategic manner. Training makes people, and pokemon in our case, stronger. When battling pokemon, each pokemon gets the experience of the battling to correct their mistakes and become stronger in the long run, just like a cat gets the experience of killing a bird, so that the next time it does want to kill a bird, it will probably know a better way of doing it.

And that's what i'm saying, after having the experience of being in 90% of ash's battles, pikachu should be wooping other teams like nothing after three years, so it makes no sense that it ties with an elekid who has been trained for a couple months at best, and then takes out a regice with even less experience.

Ash's Pokemon aren't uber, and they have lost countless times.
Watch some of his Gym battles, and you will understand what I am on about.

Aden, i never said they were, i said Ash's pikachu should be winning every battle because of the amount of experience it has. I never said uber any where in any of my statements, so you've made no point.

Maybe Pikachu loses to the beginning gym leaders 'cause it's stats are low.
The Pokemon people try to make the tv show nothing like the game or manga so people will watch it.
    Just my opinion.
