Well... I tend to capitalise Pokemon (as a general word), Pokemon species names and nicknames, well as places (Pokemart and Pokemon Center) and items (Pokeballs). Heck, I even put the accent on the e's.

Though, I don't capitalise things like "Trainer" although I DO capitalise "Pokemon Trainer" because the latter is more of a title to me. :\ Gym Leader's also capitalised but not something like Hiker or Picknicker.

It doesn't really matter which is which, it's just like arguing about how grey is spelt, grey or gray. x.x

Um... If I may ask.
Is it okay to post two fan fics with different objectives?(But not in the same time)
(Example: One is a LOOOOONG fan-fic that you are currently trying to edit & the other one is a one-shot)

I capitalize Pokémon species because I just do it automatically and it both looks and feels more natural to me. When I see them non-capitalized, it seems odd. I mean, I can read stories with them non-capitalized just fine, but it still throws me off.

I've wondered if it would be more convenient not to capitalize them for the sake of getting that distinction between "Scyther" and "the scyther" (a problem in chapter 29 of The Quest for the Legends, for example), but as I said, it just looks a bit too wrong to me.

I've fluctuated a bit in my capitalizations of other things. I consistently capitalize Pokémon species, the word "Pokémon", and the names of moves and items, as well as everything with the prefix 'Poké-', and right now I also capitalize "Gym", "League" and "Champion", but I have gone through various phases of capitalizing "Legendary" or "Shiny" and other stuff. Never capitalized "Trainer".

And there is nothing wrong with posting multiple fics at the same time.

I do it all the time, so given that I haven't been smacked yet, I think it's safe to say it's completely kosher. It's up to you, of course, if you feel comfortable working on them simultaneously, although keep in mind that a one-shot really doesn't interfere with the creative process because it's only a brief story. I'd say you'd have something more to worry about if you're trying to juggle more than one multi-chaptered work because you're trying to be involved with two long fics at the same time.

In terms of storyline, it's perfectly fine to post multiple fics that don't take place at the same time. No one is forcing you to stay within the same realm. In fact, I'd personally say branch out as often as possible if you feel you want to and can do it so you don't end up getting trapped in your own fan universe. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but it's always nice to leave a world you've been working on for months to take a breather in a completely different world if you feel like you need to.

How do you keep yourself motivated enough to write chapters of your Fan Fiction?

I promised myself I would only post a fic if I finished the first draft (posting revised/edited version of course) in mid-winter. Unfortunately, I haven't posted anything since. But, when I write I realize the first draft will be a piece of crap anyways and it's better to have moldable crap than inexistance crap, right?

What aspect of writing do you consider your strongest point?
Spelling, grammar, language. Plot maybe, but definitely not characters.

Do you capitalize Pokemon species names in your writing? Why (not)?
Sometimes. It makes sense to not capitalize them when writing fanfic because I assume that what I'm writing would be created in a world where pokemon existed, and thus they are similar to animals in that their species common name isn't capitalized. And no on can trademark animals in our world. So yeah...

I have so far, with no signs of changing anytime soon. I guess I've been conditioned by canon to having the first letter capitalized.

Where are you going to college? My older brother's a freshman at Pitt.

What a coincidence. I just escaped that cesspool moved out of Pittsburgh.

Seriously, awesome, txt. Welcome to the Geezer's Club. (I pass the responsibility of the creation of this organization to someone who's far less tempted to procrastinate like hell.)

So, how about that writing? What's everyone working on?

*Pokes the lounge's dead, rotting corpse*

Um...I...uh... I finished the first draft of TFC Chapter 28 the other day while doing laundry and thus disconnected from the internet (damn the school for not having wireless internet in the lounge at the top of the dorm!). I also began TRINITY chap 2 and got its opening scene done. Yesterday I also worked a little on a completely different fic and one which I will never post here because it is about a little interest of mine that while I'm sure some may find interesting, would probably scare and scar most people for life.

So basically I've made more overall progress in the past few days than I have in the past few months combined, which is good.

Yeah, I do. I've thought about trying to switch but as others have said, it just doesn't look right when they're not capitalized. Using caps to distinguish between species and individual as was also mentioned is cool and would be a nice reason to switch, though...

I've been revising "Nothing, Everything" and just yesterday finally gave Chapter 16 to DarkPersian to beta. Oh boy, can't wait to post that chapter!=D Also I've been working on the one shot for the Serebii contest, but at the moment have one friend looking over it real quick.

I've been sleeping for the past...oh...fourteen hours. Except for a brief few minutes to type a few visitor messages for people.

On the plus side, my mind is no longer all "Oh mah gods, wanna die. Can't breathe", so I'll be getting back to writing. Which is good, since I have a second chapter to a certain OT fanfic to get to writing.

I'm beginning to think I'm the only one with a college degree here. And low goals. Aim low, Astinus. Aim low.

I've been trying to regain interest in Divine Intervention and decide whether or not I should wait a while and repost the whole thing, or just get the next chapter up ASAP (which will be hard, as this is an important chapter and must be done with love and care)

How do you keep yourself motivated enough to write chapters of your Fan Fiction?

I am beholden to myself, for I made a pact long ago to write my very own OT. Unfortunately, the small print of this pact states that it will be done 'when I feel like it', so...XD

Anyways, yeah, I just enjoy writing fiction and putting the concoctions of my imagination in writing. Don't really need more motivation than that. ^^

Do you capitalize Pokemon species names in your writing? Why (not)?

Let me check...erm, yup, I do. Just force of habit, I guess, I don't rightly care enough about the semantic difference to change it as it's not a big thing to me either way, as long as the choice is consistent.

What aspect of writing do you consider your strongest point?

Turning the simple complicated. Gawd, the essays I've written on absolutely trivial things. XD Erm, yeah, I suck at these self-evaluation things, so don't ask me. I write how I write; haven't really stopped to analyze my strong points in any greater detail as I'm still working on covering my weaknesses. :<

And Asty...I have an IB-diploma. That counts for something, right? XD Gonna' have to disagree with you on the aiming thing, though. As my mili instructor told me on the shooting range: "Aim for that bullseye; you might just hit the six.".

...

Okay, so I wasn't a sharpshooter, alright? Can't all be perfect. D:

Anyway, my open uni course in English just led me to a scary realization about my country. All the other people in my group are like late-twenties or early-to-mid-thirties in age, some of them teachers, and yet I haven't seen a single one of them construct a simple question correctly yet. Is it okay to be depressed by this? Or by the fact that I have to come up with fifteen questions for a topic as bland and corny as 'lifelong living'? ._.

Cal Poly San Luis Obispo (California). I'm a Mechanical Engineer, and am stoked about that fact. I shall be building killer robots soon >:D

Nothing. College is keeping me astoundingly busy. Next week I may have time...or this weekend perhaps...around then I'll probably be writing the next chapter of the Eon Chronicles.

Don't you remember? You get special treatment because you're my lover.

Yay smart people! 8D

Those IB schools took over my old high school. There used to be a lot of woods around my old high school where I would find dead birds and coyote tracks, but the IB kids needed something special, and there went the woods. Now they need new tennis courts so the rest of the woods and the old tennis courts are going away. Of course, the new courts can only be used by the IB kids, meaning that no one can play tennis now.

But, on the bright side, if/when it comes to a gun/knife fight, the regular high school kids can kick the IB kids' arses. We're just awesome like that.

It's OK to be depressed by that. It was the same way when I went to college. I had someone tell me that the word "inconspicuous" was a verb. I was like "Wha?"

And now I miss my old Western Civilization class. ;_;

But, Alter Ego, I have to ask: "Lifelong living"? ._____o

I would do it, but I'm really freaking lazy. And tired from work. ><

Though I have to ask: Am I the oldest one who posts in this section? I feel like it.

Cal Poly San Luis Obispo (California).
ZOMG! The OC! *loves the show* Yes, I know the college is no where near there, but that's all I can think of when someone says California.

At least you had options. ;; I only had one college to go to in the entire state that would accept me, and it didn't have an English degree program. WTF? Now I have to wait until I move down south to go to a better college and get a better degree than the one I have now. ><

So...did anyone else nearly get involved in a knife fight today because their co-worker Golem didn't show up? XD

So, sorry. Just in case.
