I like story-rich games, but I also just like playing fun games with minimal plot and more play. So, like whats up technically? Does one run smoother than the other, that kind of stuff.

Depends, what are you looking for in your games.
You want shooters, online, and rpgs, go with PS Tripple.
You want wagglan, mini games, and platformers go with the Wii.

Go Wii, not only because PS2 has more "GOOD" games than PS3, but because Wii is fun to say and it has "good" games like Pokemon Battle Revolution(Lack of plot, Lots of battling, you can use your PDP games.) or *sighs* Lost in blue shipwrecked(TO MUCH PLOT, to hard for my tastes, IT IS "HARD") but I guess PS3 would have some good games.

Don't trust those saying "Wii has better games" go into your local games shop and you can soon realise that's a lie.

Go for PS3, if you want story rich games it has Metal Gear Solid 4, GTA4, DMC4, Bioshock etc, for games with medium plot that are full of fun gameplay there's uncharted, Ratchet and Clank, for insanely fun shooters there's both Call of duties, MGS4 again etc. Online for PS3 is immensely better than online for Wii, none of that friends code malarkey, easy interface, PShome, the PS store which is chockablock full of demons, trailers, expansions, full games etc.

In short if you want a balanced console that is superior on the technical side, the online side and with a more broad, enjoyable game library then go PS3, if you want a console you'd pick up for a quick play, but with very few really great games and with iffy online then go for Wii.

    I'd rather have a Wii..(coming from a guy who hasn't bought a video game for his Ps2 since 07)
I've recently gotten into fitness and i think it would be good to work out with.
So if you like to work, get wii.
If you wanna sit and play, get Ps3

If you want HD gaming, better online capabilities, more "core" titles then go with the PS3.

If you enjoy Nintendo's franchises, if HD or online isn't too important to you, like "games for everyone", or like motion controls then go with the Wii

If you want story rich games, you'd probably have a better time with some of the games offered on the PS3. :/ It's got great games like Bioshock and Resistance which are obviously more story-rich games. Bioshock has tons of story. Down-side is that if you want such a rich story, you're going to have to deal with a lot of plot. :/ BUT Bioshock is more driven towards "enjoy being dropped into a world you know nothing about and then you can find all the recordings to have the in-depth backstory". So if you want a story-rich game with a small main plot. Congratulations, that's a pretty good representation. It's got the platformers too, like LittleBigPlanet and Rachet and Clank which aren't exactly hardcore games, but pleasing to the hardcore gamers and casuals too.

If you're looking for just fun, jump-in games and little, if any plot, you'd be better with the Wii. It doesn't have that many games out for it that are worth it, but there's the great first-party ones like Mario Galaxy, Legend of Zelda and Animal Crossing that aren't really story-rich (in AC's case, no story). And obviously you'll find racers for either system, but obviously you can nab Mario Kart and play as all your favorite characters and such.

Obviously you can get the aesthetically pleasing games on the PS3 if you go for the grandeur of the graphics, but I've never really felt the need to complain about how the games look on the Wii. So if you're simply looking for which system has more to offer game-wise and not graphics-wise, I'm afraid you're still better off with the PS3. It simply has better titles and a broader variety of games to play as opposed to the Wii.

I would personally say wii, but it really depends on what you want your console to do and what games you want to play.

I don't want to start an argument, but you've clearly never touched a PS3 if you assume all it works on is graphics. The OP requires honest, factual advice on what console to choose, and talking about something you have no understanding of is less than helpful.

Without trying to sound like a "fanboy" here are your options.

Get a PS3 IF - you want the most powerful console. Downside is, most of the games on the PS3 are on another console which is half the price, and it is the most expensive of the three.

Get a Wii - if you like Mario Brothers and those sort of games. Probably the best choice of console for multiplayer and family type games.

Get an Xbox - if you consider yourself a bit more of a grown-up gamer. A lot of good games available, probably mainly designed for 14-40 year olds, If I didn't want the WII, tbh I'd choose the XBOX.

Hrm, I am leaning towards the PS3 as I was in the beginning, but it all depends on how much money I get for my Birthday.

    I got an xbox already.

If you've already got the 360, I see no need for the PS3, may aswell get a WII. You're basically spending 600-700 dollars for a blue-ray player if you get the PS3.

PS3 > Wii any day imo.

I have played both and the Wii is fun in the few games it has, but the PS3 has amazing games (HAWX, Resistance Series, Bioshock, Sports Games, etc.) along with a lot better graphics. Get the PS3.

    This is my experience:

    I got a Wii in 2007.
Playing it for a few hours and got bored.
It doesn't have any games that interest me.
I have been dying to get a PS3 and now I bought one today.

I would advise you to go with the PS3.
    More games. Better console.

    Totally depends.

For perhaps "serious" gaming e.g. shooters/action..PS3.
And now..I am not going to say: wii haz only minigamez and party gamez lolol!111!11!!!1one!!

Wii does have these games..But it doesn't mean you have to buy them.

Wii is great fun and it deserves more credit for the games that it has that seem to be overshadowed by these "serious" gamers who just shove the Wii off of their shoulder and slap a sticker saying: "Gimmick" on it's head.

Yes the Wii has a more "cartoony" feel too it..But what do you expect with games involving Mario and Sonic?

Seriously ...The Wii is totally overlooked.

Basically The Wii is great if you get the right games.

I would say get a Wii, it has lots of great games like Zelda: Twilight Princess, No More Hero's, Okami, Metrioid Prime 3, Smash Bros. Brawl, Mario Kart, Super Mario Galaxy, Punch-out, Wario Land, Pikmin 1 & 2, Resident Evil 4, Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles, Zack & Wiki, to name a few, i have a PS3 and apart from MGS4 i have found nothing enjoyable on the console, and am considering selling it.
