:/Anyway, I have one problem with a Hoenn remake in RMXP. RMXP's graphics aren't really better than the GBAs, so it won't seem all that different; in comparison, HG/SS are completely in 3D, and have much better hardware to use. Wth RMXP, you're never going to make full use of the PC's capability. Unless you can at least match the features of the real Emerald (contests and the Battle Frontier are the main things), then many people would still rather play that. To be honest, I prefer Emerald's portability over any new features here. But I'm sure others will disagree :P
The region map looks pretty good, although I'm not too sure why the sea routes are white; I think they would look better if they were blue, like in the original.
Well, as I've said, my aim is to enable games that want this capability the ease with which to do it. Also, it gives me a good way to get a decent fangame under my belt before trying something more original. I know the graphics are never going to be as good as HG/SS but I disagree that they can't be improved upon. Look at what Kyledove released recently. You've got to agree that's better. I'm aiming to equal the original Emerald, where possible, and expand on the plot to allow a fuller experience. For example, I'm trying to add events for Jirachi and Deoxys, as I feel they deserve. Obviously, there will be places where it is impossible to completely emulate it, but I'll do my best.
The sea routes are white because that's just my style of mapping the sea routes. I prefer that than having them blend with the sea itself, but everyone's entitled to their opinion, as always.
Anyone have any more plot suggestions?
EDIT: Here's a repost of my post E4 plot from another site:
Before boarding the boat to the Battle Frontier after defeating the Elite 4, Captain Briney shows you an Old Sea Chart he has found. It shows the ancient islands known as the Oreaga Triangle islands (this is lx's island idea), and he relays the myths about lost ships and Pokémon in those treacherous waters (parallels with the Bermuda Triangle). He wishes to investigate these mysteries, and to locate Mew, which is thought to be resident there. If you agree to accompany him on the expedition (he will remain at the port until you do) you set sail and land on one of the islands. The islands are overgrown, and there are no other people there, so the captain heals your Pokémon every time you meet. After much travelling, you discover mysterious braille, and following its instructions, you awaken Jirachi, asleep for thousands of years, and you attempt to catch it.
Now, to me, the whole "travelling a lot through jungle" sounds a bit boring, so any ideas to spruce it up are welcome. Perhaps using the manga's idea about the bad guys trying to use Jirachi's wishes for evil, I could have Archie or Maxie trying to chase after it (as it's a sea expedition, perhaps Archie would be better?) and recoup their losses, which means that you encounter Aqua grunts. Then, once that's over, the other bad guy shows you a missing part of the map, which shows a sea route to Birth Island, where you then travel, and you're trying to stop him from retrieving the second meteorite which he wants to use to drown/dry up the world at the mountain on the center island, and then, inevitably, you find Deoxys.
Thoughts? I think it needs a bit of filler, really, as everything seems to move a bit quickly.
