I don't respond when people type like that usually. If they type like that on msn I set my status to busy.

It bugs me. I notice a lot of overlap among text speak, bad grammar, and general thoughtlessness. If I can actually translate what someone is trying to say, and I still feel like responding, I'll throw at them as many big words as I can as a not-so-subtle hint that they should think about what they are typing and to study there inglish moar.

On MSN, I often type "u" instead of "you" because it's faster. And I don't really use capital letters on MSN. But i dunt go all out liek dis lol :p

I'm fine with it as long as it makes sense. I like keeping my sentences well structured. Why? I don't really know myself. It's become habitual xD

I can usually decipher text-speak, but I hate seeing it on a forum like this. :P

You'll often see me using text speak whenever I'm posting something sarcastic or just imitating a n00b. :D

The only time I even think about typing in Internet shorthand is in IM, and even then it's not 'all leik dis'. I only type 'u' for 'you' or 'r' for 'are', etc. And that's only to cut down on the time it takes to type. Usually even on IM, I'm good about my grammar/spelling.

The worst I do is forget about capital letters on MSN, but everywhere else I'm very careful.

It takes me a really long time to write or read chatspeak. Also I die a little inside every time. =|

(What's also funny is that if I try to mimic chatspeak on my BlackBerry, it autocorrects it to proper English anyway...ahaha. xD)

I find it kinda funny, as long as they're not serious. If that's actually how they talk, then wow that's pitiful. I myself aren't very good at it though n.n'

I don't like chatspeak either, so I tend to refuse to take shortcuts whenever possible. I like typing in proper english thank you very much. :D

That being said, there are certain abbreviations I do use like lol, nvm, and a few others, but those phrases have a set meaning, and aren't a lazy way to type 'you' or other small words. It irks me to no end when people abbreviate words that are naturally less than 5 characters long anyways, doing so makes you look like an uneducated idiot. >_>

I have got to be one of the few people who can actually look at that sort of speak and react as if they typed with correct spelling and grammar, probably because I've been able to talk to my friends from college with them talking to me like that, and truthfully? Most of the time it doesn't take half a brain to understand a lot of the things they say to me, so I'm just used to it on both ends.

I really despise the idea of holding someone's typing etiquette against them to the point I'd refuse to get to know them as a person, because that would just make me feel as though I were horribly judgemental and discriminate. I just can't look down upon somebody who types like that. Heck, I'd really feel warm and appreciated knowing that person would take some of their time just to talk to me, so I just really want to get along with them either way. However, I would respond to them without any abbreviations whatsoever, because it wouldn't be like me to respond in the fashion they do.

I have no idea why people use chat speak on forums. There's no rush to send messages, so why type like an illiterate? Even on MSN, I try to type with proper grammar and spelling, and only ignore capitalisation when I'm busy or I have to sign out.

It's really annoying when I see people typing like they're illiterates, especially on forums and on MSN. It's not like you pay for every character, or there's an obscenely low character limit of, like, 500 characters or something. It just gives you a bad reputation and everyone else a headache, so why bother?

It sort of bothers me, as I like proper grammar, but as long as I can understand them, it's not worth raising a fuss. It's the Internet. Not everyone talks the same way. It happens.
