Science itself isn't too bad, I just don't like science class with the teacher we have this year, she always makes us do projects with partners. Personally, I'd rather memorize all the facts from a book.

I still don't like it enough to read about it in my spare time, not unless it's something about the Space Race or something like that.

I don't hate Science, but I really hate getting handouts, tests, homework, etc.

It's really interesting when you're actually learning something.

Well let's look at it this way

Biology: Cut things up with scalpels!

Chemistry: Blow things up with nitroglycerine!

Physics: Blow bigger things up with nukes!

Yeah, so Science is clearly boring so I'm gonna put a nonsense phrase at the end of my post.

Chemistry: Blow things up with nitroglycerine!

    It's not all that exciting...

I guess it is fun to know whether a nitro group on an aromatic directs new substituents in nucleophilic aromatic substitution reaction is ortho/para or meta.

I also guess you'd like knowing about the Gabriel Synthesis and the Diels-Alder reaction. Let's not forget various proton NMR splitting patterns.

I love science. I want to be a Forensic Scientist, you see. Plus, I love setting things on fire and blowing them up. Chemical reactions for the win.

Also, I think that everything has to have some sort of evidence behind it. ("Because the Bible said so" doesn't count)

    Can't say I hate science since I'm a political science major. <=P

Science used to be my favorite topic in middleschool. I hated it in highschool though because of the burdensome amounts of work we were given, not to mention the political indoctrination in the classes.

Despite that though, science may be warped and twisted and even abused by some, but overall science has served as a great tool for explaining God's laws and for further benefiting all of mankind and the human condition. Science is great.

Not really. It's quite fascinating, and I love experimenting with it's concepts. I study Orthinology for lulz in my leisure and study Corvids most extensively. I would love to become an artist with a license to study these beautiful birds :3

Try having a sense of wonder about the world and how it works, how to interpret it and communicate your interpretations to others. It makes science more fun, even if you have a boring teacher. Also works for history, math, languages, you name it.

    LEARNING: IT IS FUN

What do you mean political? Do you mean teaching evolution, global warming, and environmentalism?

    If you're joking... haha?

If not, political science is a social science (in the same broad category as sociology, psychology, anthropology, etc.) It's concerned mainly with the interpretation and analysis of various political systems and governments, both hypothetical and practical. See kids, science can be lots of things, like patterns of human behavior! YAYYYYY

Not so much evolution. I mean being forced to watch Al Gore's "An Inconvenient Truth" despite objections from students, and then condescendingly being asked questions based on presuppositions. Being forced to do projects on why smoking should be illegal. Having to do papers on why America should have to use alternative energy. Being forced to do projects on why the government should fund embryonic stem cell research. Basically green propaganda and whatnot.

Eh, it's troublesome to argue extensively on forums, but your use of the term propoganda seems a bit hasty to say the least.

There's "propoganda" flying every which way, and it's up to the individual to see for himself what is bogus and what is legit. Alternative energy and stem cell research?

Seems like the making for a better world (but that may be the brainwashing talking).

Oh I see. Well now my previous post has gratuitous educational exposition, but I am pretty okay with that

Having to do papers on why America should have to use alternative energy.

I understand that the whole ALTERNATIVE ENERGY NOW slogan is espoused by people who identify themselves as left-wing, but considering that everyone on the planet who uses a vehicle will eventually literally "have to" make use of alternative fuel sources, I kind of see the justification for this one outside of political bent.

*cheers for science* And if you wrote that verbatim, three cheers for you. xD

    Let us boycott Science

Aww, yeah! Boycotts! Sit-ins! Anti-Science rallies! I'll make a vow right here, right now, to never use science again. No more acquiring knowledge through the scientific method, nor relying on the organized body of knowledge gained through such research. Never again.

This lacks the bite necessary for a good troll thread, but at least it's funny.

No no no, it's one thing to give students a choice between for or against, it's another to tell them to argue for the government funding embryonic stem cell research amid a huge political debate regarding the issue. It was on purpose, and really had no place being pushed by 10th grade science teachers, one of whom I can tell you was a Russian Communist. And I'm for certain alternative energy in certain fields, but even still I'm not going to make the case that the world's going to end unless the government subsidizes ethanol/bio-diesel/whatever. That teacher was an environmentalist (he was also a liar that went around telling people he was rich because he invented a variation of the Atkins diet, but that's another topic XP ). It's obvious to me when teachers are injecting their own beliefs into the curriculum. It's even more obvious in college.

Well again, it'd be one thing if it was "Should we..." and "Why should we..."

Lol really? Russian and a communist? Or are you assuming the communist part? There's really no way to be certain unless he has a hammer-and-sickle flag hanging on the wall.

If you can't sort out your own beliefs you lose.

You shouldn't care if they inject their beliefs if you are strong enough to stick to yours.

Life's a simple game with thousands of ways to win or lose. You lose if you are weak enough that other people's beliefs shape your own more than your own heart does.
