Oh god, it's a gun. I don't want my 7 year old to see something he's probably already seen on those military commercials or the internet. D:

I agree that banning the episode was pretty stupid. The gun was used a bit on the comical side. Beside, Anime != Cartoons. I'm pretty sure it would be more sane to ban a Tom and Jerry cartoon where Tom finally gets the ****ing mind to get a gun and shoot the damn mouse.

Who cares? It's not like they could've put the gun on t.v. even if they wanted to since there are regulations on basic television. Really, no one wanted to see a One Piece for this episode anyway.

I never understood the banning of this episode, i mean tom has shot jerry (and himself) plenty of times, as for the simpsons, looney tunes and plenty more other cartoons.

Tom and Jerry was made in a different era when those things were more acceptable and now airs only on Boomerang. The Simpsons has a higher rating than Pokémon so it can get away with it. Looney Tunes basically has the same reason as Tom and Jerry.

Edit: Really, it's not that big of a loss anyway. They even give a reason on Serebii why it was banned with perfectly good excuses.

Funny thing is that I actually remember seeing this episode a while back. Probably on cassette tape though. But really you have to remember that there were plenty of episodes of DB and DBZ with guns and shot fireds so this still is banned for a lame reason.

I think that might be oversimplified a bit, but you are right- everything does have to be screened for the children's percieved sensitivities these days. How pathetic.

I actually liked this episode, because TR got to use guns too. xD But I guess I could see why it was banned, it is aimed towards kids and they were using the guns to hold someone hostage (at least in TR's case) so yea, I can see why they didn't show it here. There was a little too much of it for them to change the epi around or take the parts out without making the episode too short. xD

I think it's because it didn't air on public television. Another simplified answer mind you.

It's very simplified but I believe it carried my point enough.

They say it was impossible to cut out the gun scenes, but I could easly see what parts they could cut out. And if they could also color over it or take a gun out of the scene completely. it was possible, but they were too lazy to do it.

Now, what amazes me about this being banned is that there are several other references to other destructive devices and death throughout the anime and games.

1st. Officer Jenny has a holster on her person.
2nd. Team Rocket's net rocket launcher, could be easily perceived as an actual weapon until it fires.
3rd. The Galactic Bomb in DPP.
4th. Pokemon Tower, Mt Pyre, and The Lost Tower.

And some random old man shootin' at them goldern rockets fer tresspassin' on his propeerty gits banned?

He tried that but the mouse stole the gun before he could use it.

I've seen this Episode yesterday!what incredible irony ! but it was a subbed english, it was actually quite interesting but I just think it's silly that they ban one episode because of a showing of a projectile weapon, I do have to agree with the above comments though it is true there are more violent things that have happen in other cartoons or animes whatever.

I saw this episode dubbed over a while back, and I have to say it was one of the better ones of that time, so it's sad it was banned. I like how Team Rocket was more violent and conniving (getting back to their roots), and there was quite a bit of plot development (isn't this also the one where Ash caught the hysterically-large number of Taurus?). It did have a darker tone than surrounding episodes, I believe, but it's still a loss in the overall series.

I think they shoulda replaced it with an episode showing how Ash sets out to capture things like Kanghaskan, Dratini, etc. but ends up with all those Tauros (who I still lol at when they charge around Oak's Laboratory).

However, you've got to remember that most of us aren't their target audience with the anime, are we? So, of course showing guns would get banned.

Yes, this was banned in a country where random people come and point guns at you. (Hence, my dislike for America, not fun) because it had a gun. Our society is evil.
