Well, haven't done this in a while. HERE WE GO.
2002
In the summer of this year since I was off school for a few months and wholly addicted to the internet, I started to branch off out of my home forum (then Pokémasters) and I'd pretty much joined every large Pokémon forum at the time and then a bunch of smaller ones, too. One of the smaller ones I joined was an Ikonboard with a spot for a slogan on the banner, which I thought was pretty neat. It was "We are working on a better slogan". I was amused and noted the forum specifically for website discussion and I joined. Come the end of summer, I drifted back to my home forum and mostly forgot about the small sites I frequented.
Then one week in December, one of my best online friends at the time, Cas, was raving about this new forum she'd joined and become really popular in. It wasn't until she said she had a fanclub thread that I finally went "no way, I have to see this". So she linked me to the forum and the first thing I noticed was the new "We are still working on a better slogan". Recognizing PC as the quaint little forum I'd joined months before, I signed up again and started posting once more. It was fun to look back on my introduction thread 'cause every other person knew me from other forums so it got to like 3 pages from back-and-forth discussion which was a huuuge thread back then. xD
2003
This year started out pretty badly. Cas got fed up with the way staff were treating her or something and decided to spam up the forums in a last blaze of glory. I happened to be away from the computer all day when it happened and that was lucky 'cause otherwise I might've been roped into getting banned as well and I wouldn't be here today. Then soon after, PE2K, the forum PC had merged with in late 2002, decided it wanted to be its own forum again so they split off and activity plummeted. But I stuck with PC because I was slowly getting addicted and when Ruby/Sapphire released, activity picked up. I kept posting and, despite getting modded at my home forum (TPM, in the Fan Art forum, my main haunt), PC was sloooowly taking over as my favourite.
Then on June 24th, I got modded on PC. Kwesi popped up on AIM and asked me if I wanted to be a mod and where I wanted to mod. n_n (Yeah, back then it was really disorganized. The WHOLE STAFF voted on people to mod and then that person got to choose their forum, so if a boring forum was modless, it would usually stay modless.) I chose OVP (which was then MVP, Mixed Voting Polls) because it had no moderator and was very active and JE (which was Other Anime at the time). :) I was so happy to be modded since I'd been vying for a position since like February. Only about a month later, they needed S-Mods and Arcanine & I were chosen for the job. Because Shining Arcanine, the (self-appointed?) "head" S-Mod liked Andy's username and they wanted a female on the higher staff. EXCELLENT REASONS TO PROMOTE SOMEONE, AMIRITE?
Anyway, stuff happened. In September of 2003, the database for PC started going haywire. Database errors left and right and usually when they'd happen, something would get corrupted. I lost several thousand posts once, and we had to close any thread when it got to 10 pages or 100 posts or something because otherwise the threads would just disappear. :| Eventually it got so bad we just gave up and decided to start over. The old database was saved (though eventually lost) and we started fresh with a new one. The move was really chaotic since Kwesi & Steve opened the new forums without... modding all the previous staff and it was mostly a free-for-all as far as registering went and trying to keep things under control as people posted eeeverywhere. XD; That database is the one in use today. And that's why my join date (as well as a lot of oldies') is Sept 03. :3
2004
This is where the years start to blur together. XD In the earlier years, I wasn't nearly as outgoing and "public" as I am now. D: I mostly lurked in the staff forums and contributed a lot there but would only get the occasional post outside of the forums that wasn't a mod post. And since most of that stuff is wholly uninteresting, I'll skip over it. Especially since while looking at old HQ threads, all I'm finding is a lot of threads that Kairi/Abby and I got really off topic in while discussing things that only tangentially related to the topic at hand. (I swear we got work done first though!)
Umm, we put the T-Dome up in 2004. It was a "mature" forum that people had to request access to and we allowed some sketchier threads in there hoping a smaller sample of the community could handle it. S-mods were basically made admins in order to help with giving access to the forum since otherwise, the only way to become an admin was to have a community site. Yeaaah. That eventually changed when Abby became a Praetor (and then she became an... Abby and Andy became Praetor). :( I got fed up with this and eventually managed to get the groups separated. Though it meant I was kicked down to just s-mod whereas others (well, Jake, since he made themes) moved up to Praetor. (Praetor, btw, is the equivalent of Assistant Admin.)
We also did elections in 2004. :D I was in charge alongside JKaizer (aRedMoon is his name now, I think?). It was really annoying and I think I refused to handle the vote tallies the next (and last) time we did it. It was just a popularity contest but it was fun to watch all the campaigning and whatnot beforehand. n_n
There is like no record of all the drama in HQ, which is surprising, but there was also the whole Abby x Sawah thing that tore PC asunder in late 2004. :( It ultimately resulted in both of them quitting (and coming back a few weeks later orz) and made a lot of people resent a lot of other people. At some point during all of it, I got sick of it and quit for a while, partially because I was so annoyed with the situation (and refused to pick sides like everyone wanted me to :C) and partially because I'd convinced myself I wanted to concentrate on school. Later realized that the situation had calmed down somewhat (and it was immature of me to not have called out both sides on being jerks xD) and also that it was grade 10 and I was doing just fine in school anyway. lmao. I came back as a mod, feeling to guilty to ask for my s-mod spot back, and opted to mod Other Chat and Webmaster's Discussion because neither had mods (I think). The Webbies crowd drove me out, objecting vehemently to my modding there because I wasn't enough of a regular so like 3 days later I went "screw it" and accepted my s-mod position back. XD
2005
Abby x Sawah drama continued. Abby had been made a Site Admin and Andy became a Staff Admin and it became a Blue (the site admin colour at the time) VS Red sort of deal. It ended in Abby quitting again, I think, and eventually I think she and Sawah got themselves banned. :C After that, though, PC slowly started returning to normal.
I'm pretty sure in February of 2005, I finally got promoted to Praetor. :D Even though I hated the colour (it was like... a gross dark yellow) compared to my favourite colour at the time (#ff9900! ♥). But a promotion was a promotion and I was still excited. No less than a month later, I was promoted to Staff Admin, invading Andy's group to become the second one ever... I think. :) Cue Jake not speaking to me once until he was promoted there too. XD
What else happened in '05, hmm. I think we turned off rep for the first time (though that might have happened in '04). We brought back the T-Dome for another crash and burn. There was a huge series of fights in the HQ that summer. Fun stuff. 8| More probably happened but I think that's the only notable stuff.
2006
I honest to god cannot think of a single worthwhile thing that happened in this year that really affected me personally. Oh, except changing my name to Demyx for 6 months (the limit at the time) and I hated not having the name Lightning for that duration. All in all, it was probably why...
2007
...I quit the staff on April 1, 2007. I'd been toying with the idea for months and when Ryotarou/Jorfe and I talked about it together, we realized we'd both lost that spark and found it a real chore to get on PC each day to post, let alone do mod work. We thought it'd be hilarious to resign on April Fools so we did. I kind of expected to drift away from PC at this point, especially with the stresses of senior year, my not-so-great health, and applications for university buuuut... I ended up getting more active.
It was nice to have a fresh perspective on PC. A bunch of other supporters and I got the colour changed from the old nasty green to a nice purple and I started posting in forums I'd never really paid much mind to before. I was actually having a lot of fun on PC for the first time in a long time. And it was nice to not have to worry about staff drama or dropping everything to deal with a thread that was out of line.
The months went by and I started to miss my spot on staff, though. D: My activity hadn't deteriorated at all so I decided to ask for my spot back around August or September. (Again, I felt too guilty to ask for my full spot back so I suggested S-Mod or AA and got AA. xD) A few months later I was promoted again and I've been an SA ever since. (b' ')b
2007 was also the year D/P released in the US... and I got obsessed with Cherrim. I'd been bothering someone to make me a Cherrim style for PC for nearly the entire time I was off the staff to no avail so that was probably like the first thing I did when I got back on staff. And I still use Blossom Shower to this day. ♥ :D
2008
Don't remember too much. Again. We added the supporter perks, I think infractions were added to PC (and I didn't give one out for like half a year because the new system confused me ;~;) Um, Emblems came about (which were so much fun to plan 8D). We brought back reputation. That was exciting but quickly turned into a massive headache when the exaaaact same problems from the first time resurfaced. :( Probably never trying that one again, orz.
Also NO MORE SITE ADMINS. \o/ I sound like a bad person for saying that but people cannot even begin to imagine how much stress that group ended up being for me from 2004 onwards. :( So its removal was a huge step toward fairness on PC and was a long time coming. (Not that it solved all problems but it certainly helped a few peoples' superiority complex. >_>)
2009
Posted loooots during the summer. Probably doubled my mod actions in that time too. \o/ That's when I started my quest to climb the posting ranks. I started out as like 15th highest and made my goal the top 10. Then sloooowly made my way into 3rd or 4th place. I was so proud of my progress. :'D
Met up with quite a few fellow PCers (actually that also happened in '08 but '09 was more notable because eeee meeting best friends).
The Get Together last year was also a lot of fun. I didn't do much with it but when I hosted the iSketch free play. It's online Pictionary with a Pokémon wordlist. When we played that, it sparked a bit of an obsession with it around PC for a month or two. XD The best was how I'd draw Cherrim somehow for EVERY WORD and then the one time I actually got the word Cherrim, no one guessed it for a while, assuming I was just drawing something else in a roundabout way as always lmaooo.
2010
Best thing in the history of ever happened but I cannot say what it was.
Added the BW forum and had a blast modding it and watching it closely until a few weeks ago when I lost track and then just totally lost touch with it. XD; But I had a lot of fun in there and discussing and speculating about it has definitely gotten me way excited for the games.
Continued being active. Got super active in the summer again and last week I made top poster! That was super exciting becaues I never in a million years would have considered it even possible before last year. And it's kept me active and involved in the community instead of sitting around ignoring PC or hiding out in the staff forums 24/7 like I used to do. :<
...........I like how you can literally watch my get lazier and lazier when it comes to recapping events. XD; Things just blur together after a while. Oh well.
This also just makes me want to write a PC history. ._.
