What do you think of them? Do you have any? I heard some schools banned them or something, so do you like that idea? Has it happened to your school? Do you have any clue what I'm talking about?

    Discuss... and stuff.

They anger me. I personally don't see the appeal to them, considering when you wear them they just look like wrinkled wristbands... but It's another fad, so they'll be done with relatively soon, and I can stop worrying about them. (Not that I lose sleep over their existence or anything.) Z_Z

Yes I have heard of them, yes I have seen them, but no I don't own any myself because I think that would be kind of weird for someone my age to walk around with those. Not that I haven't thought about getting a few....

It doesn't surprise me that some schools would ban them, as kids would be messing with them instead of paying attention in class. However, if they are like I was back in school, they will amuse themselves with anything and everything until the teacher gives up. :D

They look like they would be good for tracing out shapes and then drawing in more details.

but It's another fad, so they'll be done with relatively soon, and I can stop worrying about them. (Not that I lose sleep over their existence or anything.) Z_Z

    Yeah but remember these?:

Those were around for generations, and they were just jelly bands. These are SILLY bands, and they will probably be around longer. :P

No, I haven't heard of those. I also don't see what's wrong with bringing them to school.

Uhhh...If you haven't heard of them, how would you be able to say whether or not they'd be wrong for school. For all you know they could be slang for packages of cocaine, or garrote wire; something along those lines would most likely not be acceptable in a school.

Seeing that I've been out of high school for five years now, I've only just recently heard about them through PC members. It's another pointless little fad that teenagers get worked up about. No point in trying to call them out on their stupidity as it will blow over. XD

Omg noes. Silly bandz shows that the kids of today really can have fun with anything, as long as it's advertised well enough..... wait, maybe that's a good thing?

It's a good thing for kids. They no longer need video games to keep preoccupied; a rubber band is enough! It's like the good old days when children climbed trees and wrestled each other for fun...

Anyways, *ahem*, those things are pointless. In my city, kids claim that if you break them, you have to make out with whoever gave it to you, dude or dudette. -_-They are a stupid colored band that has no value. They are a waste of valualuable resources that also waste the money of people. I have never been in to that crap and never will be.
lol, those were a different kind of fad where I am. They were around when I was in like 5th/6th grade, and they were plain old rubber bracelets. And you had to do a little more than just make out if you broke one.

But seriously, I was always into that kind of stuff when I was little. I find it sad when kids say "oh, they're a pointless waste of money so I don't buy them." They're kids, they should be able to throw logic to the wind if it makes them happy, if only for a few years. I have some bands myself (though not nearly as many as some people) and they always seem to start conversations. They're fun to trade too. You say they're a waste of valuable resources, I say they bring some people together. They represent a generation, kind of like Pokemon, Beanie Babies, snap bracelets and mood rings... damn, now I'm starting to miss the 90's.

Anyway, I'll be damned if some of you hating on Silly Bandz collected Pokemon cards when you were younger. They were pieces of cardboard and they were hella expensive, but did you really care?

I have two. Both of 'em were given to me, and I'm too lazy to talk 'em off my wrist.

/will never spend her own money on those types of things. I don't traditionally go along with fads, thank you very much.

Luckily now that I'm in College though, I don't hear much of 'em thank god. It's more Magic and Pokemon and Yugioh and stuff like that.

    THIS^ Agreed.

Notice how everybody said the same thing about us and Pokemon during the golden age in the late 90's. The "fad" arguement.

...this one made me laugh my head off.

Replace the words "Silly Bandz" with "cocaine" or "garotte wire" while reading this thread for some epic lulz.

    ...anyway.

I don't really mind them. I liked my blue one that was given to me, and was sad when it broke, but I have more IMPORTANT and REAL stuff to spend my money on.

Like Pocky, manga, and video games.

In all srsness, I just wanted to punch the people that felt like it was a status symbol.

    It's a rubber band.

    Ya.

There will always be some fad that exists at some point or another. Why not get caught up in it? Embrace it, even. If not, when you're older and look back at your life, maybe you'll say, "damn, I didn't do anything fun."

I do not dig Silly Bandz, though. I've never heard of them until today, and probably can't find them where I live.

They are basically the same, I don't see them lasting much longer than jelly bands, because nowadays these fads are popping up like crazy, when we only named a few and summed up the whole decade of the 90's. People will forget them soon enough.

There's a set of differences between Pokemon cards and these bands.
    A. Pokemon has an entire franchise around it.
    B. Pokemon's fan base spans generations.
    3. The original cards are still around, and worth something.
