... Am I the only one who saw this as funny?

    (From Minneapolis, worked in Rosemount)

I mean come on, parents know their kids. I'm sure they wouldn't do this if they knew it was going to scar their teen. Some kids will take it as a joke, grossed out, but it will be something to laugh about later. Personally I think some are being a bit uptight about this. It's a prank; get over it.

And yes, it's been done in Rosemount before. Been there, haven't seen this, but heard about it, sort of a joke I've heard once or twice growing up.

And seriously? Who hasn't been kissed by their mother? It's not like they were sent to exchange saliva with a hobo. Honestly they signed up for the prank, not knowing who the other person is. And if people disagree, seriously, it's just a prank and it's not your kid and you're not their parent. I have yet to hear of a student that has gone through trauma therapy because of this. In fact I know a few people at RHS who were there for the pepfest, and there was nothing but laughing and having fun, and the few grossed out, but laughing students.

Also, that's City Pages... City. Pages. Not the greatest news source ever.

Try this, this (local), and this (local).

Seriously, it's not 'the years dumbest, grossest idea'. I just think it's people overreacting.

Well, when I read the article it sounded really disgusting, but watching the video made it seem harmless, and honestly pretty funny.

I'm not sure why it's that big of a deal actually.

You're right, everyone has totally french kissed their mum/dad before so there's nothing wrong with this or moving your hand down to their ass and groping it, or even rolling on the floor making out.

Wow! Sarcasm! Learn it! Way to blow things totally out of proportion! Did you even read the post? If you really are that thick... you know what I won't even bother explaining myself to you.

Also the kids are to blame, if they didn't know who it was then why go over board huh? By the way one of the guys even commented on his mother's lips. It was a joke. Learn humor then get back to me when you stop beating people with the stick you pulled out your arse.

The clip only shows some of the rally. I'd like to see the rest of it.

Really? The students (Blindfolded ones) are not to blame for this. Special someone they were told. Most likely they assumed a friend, or something. Not a parent. At worst they probably assumed a pet or something.

The kiss might have started out innocent but really? The students are not at fault for frenching, groping, or rolling on the floor. Thats all on the parents.

So don't try blaming the idiotic students who went along with this. They didn't know, or most likely didn't even assume, that this was what would happen.

As for the parents, bad parents. Bad bad bad. A kiss is understandable, but frenching, rolling on the floor, and open groping? Not sure if any of them were married but if they were, its easy to see just how much they value those vows.

...$5 says that the pair rolling on the floor had a good night.

Edit - To the ones defending this. Odd's are that if it was a teacher, or mxm fxf student/parent kiss you'd all be outraged. Personally? I see them all the same. Something that shouldn't have happened, that all the ones directly responsable need to be punished in some way for.

yeah you didn't know that is how i kiss my mom goodnight! i tongue her and grab her butt and sometimes when it gets really intense we end up on the floor.

How can people say this isn't wrong? It was supposed to be a prank yea, but it clearly got out of hand. If the adults were teachers it would be a little more acceptable. You guys keep saying they signed up for this yea they most likely did thinking they were gonna get a kiss from a fellow student, not their parents. I believe in the video the one student even says another students name. So No its not the kids fault its the parents for taking a fun prank and making it disgusting

What I don't get is how people are NOT outraged about the one rolling on the floor. Odd's are that if it was a student and teacher, everyone would be calling for punishments for em. Same goes for the groping one.

Edit - nvm. Misread your post.

Did anyone stop to consider that some of these athletes are probably legal adults? We're 4 months into the American school year, and it seems like most of these athletes are seniors (as in last year of high school and they're all ages 17/18), and some of them, maybe even all of them, are already 18. Though making out like this isn't considered a sexual act for the purposes of the law here, so it's very unlikely any actions will be pursued. If anyone was severely traumatized or damaged by this to the point where they need help, they will probably seek it. Being as close to adulthood as they are, they are probably mature enough or smart enough to be able to sort this out with their parents if they had any major issues with it.

Edit - To the ones defending this. Odd's are that if it was a teacher, or mxm fxf student/parent kiss you'd all be outraged. Personally? I see them all the same. Something that shouldn't have happened, that all the ones directly responsable need to be punished in some way for.

Whoawhoawhoawhoawhoa don't paint all the people who see this as a fairly harmless prank in the long run with the same brush. I most certainly would not be outraged if it were male on male or female on female student/parent kissing. I'm not afflicted with homophobia, dude. If it were student and teacher it would have to get past the principal first, and student/teacher is forbidden by school policies in this neck of the woods, so the likelihood of that getting by a principal here is much lower than the likelihood this event ever happens again.

I forgot to add a part to that sentence.

If you are offended at one part then you are a hypocrite if you are not offended of the other.

Homophobia aside, its still a parent kissing, intimately, their child.

As for teachers if anything, a teacher kissing a student is acceptable not counting the age differences. The key part to it is that teachers are in a position of power over the students. Which is what makes it illegal in most cases.

Holy hell, position of power! What do you think parents have over their children?

    What a messed up discussion…

child molestation is no joke! especially when family does it. hurr incest bad durr disgusting parents
Please calm down, a tempered mind is better to have a discussion. And if Zet wouldn't like to have a discussion about this, he probably would just posted it here, letting you judge if funny or creepy. I'll write about the incest in a minute.
It is bad, so you can't really say that we're talking "bad" about it because the whole situation itself is bad. It's like saying you can speak bad about rape, that just doesn't really make sense.
    Now about some things:
    1. In most states you get the status of being an adult by reaching the age of 18. You don't actually do anything for it. But like anybody can guess, it's not like you transform overnight. In fact, you don't really change from one day to the other. The state just had to set its now-you-are-considered-to-be-an-adult-line somewhere and it happens to be the age of 18. So, what does it really mean to be an adult? A philosophical question and not part of this discussion. (Would actually be worth a thread I guess.) But I think we all can agree being an adult means (besides other things) making your own decisions and take responsibility for it (even if some people don't want/do the responsibility-part). As for this part of adulthood, I think we can expect the people from the vid (childs and parents) being "adults", can't we?
      That said:
How can people say this isn't wrong? […] You guys keep saying they signed up for this yea they most likely did thinking they were gonna get a kiss from a fellow student, not their parents.
Well, I guess STUPID STUDENTS ARE STUPID if they combine recieving a prank and trusting other students. And oh look, they're the sports captains. The point is, being adults in the way just defined, they have to take responsibility, because they agreed to this, knowing they do not know what will happen to them. Like working in a power plant or being a human rat for a mad scientist.
      Spoiler:
    2. Child molesting is bad? Here again, we have to differ when someone is adult/child, this time in a sexual sense. Here in Germany, sexual self-determination starts with the age of 14 by law. Again, the law just had to set it's line somewhere. But you don't get horny over night (well, you might get, but you know what I mean). (Btw, it's still punishable for 18+years people to have sex with 14-17 years people, so the parents (in the name of the children, of course) can still screw you, even if both agreed.) As for me, childs get adults sexually, when they learn about their sexuality and how to deal with it, as I know usually when puberty starts hitting.
So, with childs as just sexually defined, child molesting is so way more bad than just molesting, because one's making use of the circumstance the child doesn't know what happens to it. That is a serious abuse and I consider it as really evil.
But now, look back at the vid. Are these students sexually childs? As sport captains? I don't think so. So you can't speak about child molesting at all, can you?
    3. Is incest bad? Oh, I hear all the people shouting "Yes!". So, think again. No wait, just think. In most states, incest is forbidden. Guess why? Ever had some genetics in school? In laboratorys, a lot of incest is practiced with flys, so genetic characteristics are given to the next generation with a high probability. And it's just that the same would happen with humans. If you and your (imaginary) brother/sister (whatever suits your gender) have the same eye color (and maybe your parents to), your child would get the same eye color with a high probability. Sounds nice, eh? Well, ever heard of "recessive"? A characteristic can be recessive (r) or dominant (R) and the dominant characteristic dominates the recessive one. (Now my "genetic" memories get weaker, you may look it up) You usally have two genes about the same characteristic. Let R be blue eyes and r be green eyes. If your Genes are RR, Rr, rR you get blue eyes, rr you got green. Your brother/sister is very similiar in genetics with you, compared to some stranger. So you're child would be very similiar to you both. Recognize while you two may have Rr blue eyes, the child nevertheless could have rr green eyes. Still sweet. But now comes the bad part: Guess that a lot of diseases are recessive and probably all of us carry some diseases within us, like Rr disease doesn't activate. While it's unlikely to meet a stranger with this diseases' Rr, it is highly probably, that your silbling also have it, about 50%, assuming both parents have Rr. If only one, it would be 25%. And if you both have Rr, you child will have rr with 25%, meaning the disease will activate. And that's the probability for ONE disease, you may carry many more.
So incest is forbidden because there is a high probability that the resulting child is given a disease or disabled. That would just be unfair for the child, so society tries to avoid these child from being created.
The second reason against incest would be that parents talk their children into having sex with them, with the children no way to have other opinions about it / can't oppose the parents. But that's less incest (as in "love between siblings") and more child abuse to me. Please try to differ these circumstances.
So, as in "love between siblings", incest sure is no bad thing. They simply shouldn't have children (oh god, I often wrote childs, didn't I) for the not-going-to-exist children's sake.
On a side note, incest was daily buisness in monarchy times.
You may disagree with me on some things I just wrote, but for a proper discussion we need to get these three points cleared before we can discuss the main topic properly, so I would like to read your opinions about these 3 points.

So, with my statements written, I would say these students have to take responsibility for being embarrested, as long you don't see this as molesting (as in "not child molesting, but molesting in general"). But as far as I could see, the blindfolded stutends went along.

tl;tr: Really? It took me over one and a half hour to write this post, so you could at least read all of it.

EDIT: By the way, if you just have the point "it's child molesting/incest because the law/my parent/my personal taste says so and that is bad/disgusting", you're not helping at all.
