So gamefreak is planning to show off their next game soon. It's not a mainstream pokenon game(probably) and they don't handle spinoffs so maybe gamefreak is doing something different this time.Thoughts? Source:

Oh yeah, i remember that. I think this is a new ip or a small chance of an spin off, the fact that serebii tweeted it first though is interesting, he usually has inside info on upcoming pokemon games.

Update: just so you know I know he said that TPC doesn't do spin-offs but i honestly hope to god it is a PMD game that is better then GTI but i know it is unlikely because they did not say that Chunsoft would be involved........unless they purposefully did that so people would not come to that conclusion..........nah couldn't happen.........OR COULD IT *DUN DUN DUN*

This is either going to be the predictable third version/sequel to XY or a new IP like Soriti Horse.

Could be Gen VII, I kid but that is always a slight possibility.
I think it may be a new IP. GF tends to take a break mid gen at least ever since RSE (IRC In Japan taking 2003 (between RS and the remakes plus Emerald), 2007(between DP and Pt), and 2011 (between BW anc B2W2) off.) So that gives them some time to work on an IP. I guess it could be Z though as FrLg and Emerald came out like 8 months or so apart in Japan...Z by July anyone? (though adding fuel to my doubt is that the movie around the time that the third version (sequel in B2W2's case comes) comes out at least since Gen III focuses on the mascot(s). And the 2015 movie already has three legends with Hoopa likely to be added in so there's little room for a Zygarde promo (but then again Kyurem's movie had five legends but four of those are members of a Quad).)

Last time they had an exciting announcement from just "Game Freak" and people jumped all over it like it was the next Pokémon announcement, we got the Japan-only Soriti Horse. :(

Lets be honest, that blob they posted over on the GF blog was obviously not a Pokemon, and it was too random to be anything Pokemon. Here its open at least, but the person saying this makes me think its HarmoKnight 2. Which is as fine as anything else tbh.

If they haven't announced that it's a Pokémon game, i'm leaning more towards that it might be something not Pokémon related. I just have a feeling the next game will be released in Spring 2016 and not late next year. (Not often that we go to them for anything not Pokémon related...)

I highly doubt it to be another mainstream game given the closeness of the release of ORAS. I've learnt from past situations like this to expect something less ground breaking such as Pokemon Tretta.

Either it's DLC or a new mainstream game, I am hoping it's DLC... I want the next new generation to start in 2016, so it gives Generation Six a three year run...

Can someone fill me in on what IP is?

Ip means a new franchise, for example harmoknight was a new franchise made awhile back.
And i would a new mystery dungeon that fixed the problems with GTI, especially if it was on wii u. Although a harmoknight sequel would be cool as well but from the sounds of it, it may end up being an entirely new ip gased on this quote from one of the delvlopers that they interviewed about it. Here is the quote:






"We're doing a lot of different things with respect to our next project, so right now we're focusing on getting ready to announce it. We sincerely hope from the bottom of our hearts that it'll be worth checking out once we get to that point. — Tetsuya Watanaba"

Personally, I like announcements themselves, so just that is awesome. If it's Pokemon related, even better.

Maybe this is it? It would certainly require prepping and is something new.

I wonder if such a thing will be related to the main games or be able to interact with them. Like how in some of the spin offs you got special event mons such as Manaphy.

IT probably would be compatible with the main games. I would suspect something special would come from it.
