What topics can you simply not talk about because they're so boring. Do you often find yourself in them? How do you survive a sleep-worthy conversation without offending the other person/people?

Eh. Truth be told, I don't know what I find boring. I try to get into any discussion that takes place, and I usually do a good job of getting into it. But if something does become boring, I tend to space out and reflexively give a nod or an "uh huh," without ever recalling what was just discussed.

It really bores me when someone talks about one specific thing all the time, nonstop, but the topics that are boring to me are anime, anything related to kpop, politics, clothing/fashion/makeup or sports. And when girls talk about guys (or boyfriends) all the time... that bores me and actually annoys me. Nothing wrong with talking about how cute someone is but chill, there's other things to talk about.
I usually just stop talking to people I brand boring after a conversation and avoid them. I feel rude if someone is rambling on and on about something I have no interest in, but is important to them, and I ignore them/don't appear interested.

this topic was posted ten minutes after we stopped talking on facebook
logs on and posts every embarrassing picture of curiousnathan on his wall

    as for the topic
please don't bother trying to spark up a conversation with me about sports unless your intention is to permanently lose me as a conversational partner

I think when people ask questions about me, it's pretty boring.

It's also boring if A) I'm not learning something. B) I'm not teaching or giving advice. C).I'm not in an argument or debate.

There are sadly no ways to avoid things like that completely. It happens to everyone every once in a while.
Though to have a fun conversation, its always fun to talk about movies, and from there you kinda get the ball rolling :P

Oh man, as a huge film enthusiast, I have some friends who won't watch movies with me (or the other way around, talk in a theater and I'll actually move seats to the other side of the theater). This is because I can rant for several hours easily on a movie, anything from plot to cinematography (anime is worse as it can take me several days to get over an anime I've finished).

Lol I can feel you about Anime, though an hour is enough for me XD
but yeah there's also a fine technique about getting your crush to watch a movie with you :
    - Ask him/her what's his/her favorite movie.
    - When he/she says "XYZ" tell him/her "I haven't seen it because whatever, but I would totally want to someday.."
    - 7/10 times, he'll/she'll ask you to watch with him/her again.
    - ???
    - PROFIT

I personally avoid movie first dates, they're too impersonal and I'd rather talk about her not the movie if that makes sense. Crushes are best resolved directly and with a smile (even a nervous one).

Now, movies are one of the easiest ways to get friends, and I personally go to see a movie with this one girl (she's a senior in college and I'm a freshman in college no less) who talks with me for hours wwhen we go out (casually). He'll, I met her because we were both drunk at a party and had the same DD, we talked about the avengers and guardians of the galaxy for an hour or something (first movie we saw was Interstellar I believe)

S P O R T S OH MY GODDDD. If a guy describes himself as a *insert any sports team* enthusiast all interest is lost. My brother loves sports he literally compares everything to sports. He compared the Michael brown protest to people protesting over a bad sports call. I was just like "NO THAT IS NOT EVEN 1% THE SAME THING YOU FUCKING PSYCHO" so yeah long story short don't talk to me about sports.

    anything in the D&D

Small talk and gossip are endlessly boring to me. I really don't care what someone's half brother's uncle is doing. Babies are also boring to talk about, but Babbys are okay.

Football, it's probably one of the topics that I can't stand purely because I don't follow any of it and nor do I play.
