Hi everyone. I wqnt to hear your thoughts on the upcoming FE game that was recently revealed to be Fire Emblem Fates in NA.
    Fire Emblem: Fates

I am extraordinarily upset that it is not coming out until next year. Everything good is not coming until next year. So dissappointing.

Two seperate versions for Hoshido/Nohr is garbage shit and I pray that that doesn't happen. Game itself looks cool though. If it comes down to it, I'd choose Nohr anyway.

  • Hoshido 1st run, Nohr second.

As I've said before, reason I'm doing this is because Easy -> Hard is much less jarring and probably less fun than Hard -> Easy. I love a challenge but, well I'm in no particular rush, and if I get more out of it playing the easier (though not necessarily easy) version first, fine by me. Helps that I don't particularly mind Hoshido.

@Hi - Not exactly ideal, but I'm pretty sure in Japan you don't need to buy both versions to play both kingdoms as you can but the other kingdom regardless for a much, much lower price than a retail game.

  • I was interested at first, but after everything they've said about it since first announcing it has made me slowly lose interest. I'd be tempted to at least buy used if not for the third route being DLC only and the fact that everybody will more than likely buy new and support everything they're doing anyway regardless of what they think about it so it wouldn't do any good anyway.

They've confirmed that they're doing it outside of Japan as well. Best part is that they keep making it sound like an in-game choice when it really isn't.

I believe I read somewhere that if you get the digital version you do actually choose in-game, afterwards it locks you into one path permanently until you buy the other version. The demo version showed a second page of save files so I assume once you download the second path the choice shouldn't be locked in anymore, but I'm just guessing for that. I don't see why the choice would be locked if you own both sides.

Considering each path has 28 levels, with at least 6 shared, I don't mind paying a discounted price for the other side.

I'll be getting the Nohr physical version but I think I'll download the Hoshido side (and eventually the third path if it isn't available at release) early on in case I end up liking the Hoshido characters more and don't want to do Nohr first. As of now I'm confident I'll play Nohr first though.

Removing weapon durability is a change I welcome and it'll take some time to learn the new weapon triangle. At first the two sides thing bothered me but the more I hear about them (exclusive characters, possibly 22 different levels, no grinding vs grinding, win condition difficulty difference, different classes) the more the idea that they are going to be two fairly different experiences sinks in.

I not sure how I feel about the traditional medieval guys (Nohr) being evil, nor the fact that it is harder than the japanese guys (Hoshido). I can easily see why that is so, considering fire emblem used to be japanese only. I liked fire emblem for its traditional medieval style.

As for the durability system being removed, I also would praise that choice. It makes absolutly no sense that the so called legendary swords of seals could break more easily than a simple iron sword.

  • What I've seen of the Nohr path, Garon and his assistant are totally evil but your family are total bros. I'm assuming it'll challenge the preconception that the Nohr path is the 'evil' path.

Hoshido is probably just straight forward 'Nohr is evil, Hoshido is good', since they've been saying it's about protecting Hoshido from the invasion of Nohr and.., pretty much said nothing else.

  • I feel better about the spit game idea knowing how long each side is, and that the other side will be cheaper.

I will probably buy Hoshido first, as I probably don't have the skills to finish the Nohr path. I was planning to do Nohr-No-Reset run first when I thought it was all one game. I guess I could still do that.

Removing weapon durability is weird to me. I've only played Awakening, but durability seemed to be a big part of managing your team. It did made the legendary weapons like of bittersweet, as you couldn't use them and then still have them.

legendary weapons are, for the most part, outclassed by double hitting weapons so I don't even worry about them. few i would say are worth using are 2 range melee weapons like ragnell and gradivus.

I'll probably play with hoshido first and if I like the game, go with nohr after.

I just watched the tree house fire emblem fates video. It turns out that the avatar's english name is Corrin (who I have mixed feelings about at the moment). For those who do not know, he/she seems to be a manaket like the Girl in awakening.

If I was in his situation at the end of that video, I would Have a heart attack.

It has just been confirmed that the marriage mechanic from Aawakening is returning in Fates. No I jjst got tl figure which lady is perfect for my avatar (I am pretty sure I would.be able to afford a 3ds by the time Fates is released.) Also, does anyone think that the Roy amiibo will be usable in Fates. You can probally guess why I would ask.

  • So here's a...weird bit of information:

    https://kotaku.com/new-fire-emblem-has-same-sex-marriage-1713537258

It's great, really- gives me a reason to play a female character without feeling like I'm missing out- not as much, at least. That's not the weird part. What's weird is this:

Note that male/male marriage is available in one of the main editions, female/female in another, and both options are available in the third campaign. Which, while NoA is being silent on price and availability, is paid DLC in Japan.

Which, if I'm correct, means depending on the kingdom you pick, you can be a certain type of homosexual...but not the other. Hm...

Not to get in a heated argument, but now my mom will never let me buy it now.

Really? Eh, I don't think it'll matter, she doesn't have any particular reason to know and you don't have to engage in Same-Sex marriages. It really shouldn't be a big deal.

EDIT: Ah, well this has me a little disappointed. So here's the deal, there is a single female and a single male for Birthright (Hoshido) and Conquest (Nohr) respectively. Which essentially means that not only is it limited to one sex in the specified version, but it's also limited to one character.

    A shame, but it's a start.
