  • Are there any Pokemon you refuse to use in your Pokemon games? Why?

I won't ever use legendaries, any gimmick pokémon who don't learn actual moves like Unown and Delibird, and Medicham. It just looks so stupid.

  • I don't use any legendaraies, because I don't really like them :)
Before, I refused to have pokemn that can only evolve by trade because I didn't had nobody for trade...

  • Any Pokemon is fine for me except Unown and Delibird. They're so limited in moves and stats that I wouldn't consider catching either unless it was for Pokedex completion. Smeargle falls under the "gimmick" category too in my opinion, but it's actually quite useful because it can copy any move permanently through Sketch.

  • There is probably one out of ALL those mons out there that I will never use, and that is Rattata. I hate that stupid, ugly, weak **** so much. It never impressed me in the past, it doesn't do anything but bite stuff, and I wouldn't mind the fact it was so common... If I could actually STAND looking at the gaddamn ****ing thing. I'm fine with everything else, even maybe some of my other least favourites, but just not the mouse.

  • There are a few Pokemon that are an eye-sore for me. Two major examples are Binacle and Barbaracle. e__e Otherwise I find that if you use a Pokemon you don't normally like in your team for some time, they can really grow on you. More so with the Pokemon Amie. c:

  • Magikarp, Unown, Luvdisc and other Pokemon that are nearly unplayable until they evolve, or just unplayable period.

All legendary kinds are banned for in-game uses. While I'm not a fan of the Gulpin and Whismur lines.

I just try to make the games harder for me, which means that I'm less compelled to use Pokemon that are a lot stronger than most of the others.
Magikarp, Unown, Luvdisc and other Pokemon that are nearly unplayable until they evolve, or just unplayable period.
I've actually had a lot of fun using Unown in Gold. I even managed to train it all the way up to level 100 at the end of the game.

There's actally a high chance that you lose out on a lot of fun, if you refuse to use a Pokemon, just because you think it's terrible.

Those crappy Normal types they throw at you on the first route in every damn game. I HAVE used Rattata before, but that's the only one I've used. I refused to use Sentret, Zigzagoon, Bidoof, Lillipup, Patrat or Bunnelby, and I won't use the next one, or the one after that, or the one after that. They can keep chucking them out all they want, I am NOT going to use them. They've all got awful designs, they're practically worthless in battle, and I can just find better things to use on my team.

I won't use most Fighting types either, because they're all ugly as sin. Seriously, would it kill them to design a pretty Fighting type?

  • There's always a couple of Pokemon from each generation I don't like or won't use.

    Snorlax, Ursaring, Slaking, Ambipom, Darmanitan.

  • I don't use legendaries (with the exception of Shaymin); once I catch them, they're boxed for good. For the most part, I only use Pokemon that I generally like. I'm not a competitive battler, so organizing a team based around their stats/how well they'd work together doesn't matter as much to me. The only ones I wouldn't use are Pokemon that are just unattractive or I don't really care for as much, like Relicanth, Charizard, Swalot, and others.

  • I will never use Mr. Mime. It's my least favorite pokemon. I hate the design, it's really creepy, I hate clowns and mimes, the name stinks, etc. I don't care if they make it ridiculously overpowered, I'll never put one on my team.

  • I try my best to use Pokemon I rarely use. Going off memory, I believe I started to incorporate at least 3-4 underused Pokemon per team on my initial playthroughs back in HGSS.

In my original HG playthrough, I used Meganium, Pidgeot, Ampharos, Starmie, Nidoqueen and Scizor. Outside of Starmie and Scizor, the other members faced their struggles here and there, even with as much EV-training as I could squeeze in. Starmie/Scizor just more or less swept whatever they faced. Meganium had coverage issues, my Pidgeot was too squishy, Ampharos was too slow, and Nidoqueen didn't pack enough punch.

Sometimes I try for themes, as well. For instance, in my current replay through X, I only use Psychic types. Espeon, Alakazam, Gardevoir, Gallade, Starmie (for Surf), and Mew (for Fly). I had the Mew as the "starter," transferred over from HG. But I admit I consciously avoided unaesthetic Pokemon like Mr. Mime, Jynx, Hypno, Blobuffett.

Current replay through Y, I run Ninetales, Altaria (no mega, obviously) and Kabutops. Those three are probably the weakest links on the team (the others are Greninja, Roserade and Scizor). Seriously, I love my Psyshock Ninetales, but ugh, your stats blow.

The all-Psychic team I'm using for X is actually the first time I've ever used a legendary on my team since my original playthrough of Blue version (where I carried all three legendary birds on the first run). Usually I don't, but since I was going with a theme, I needed a Psychic type that could learn Fly and actually use it properly (i.e. didn't use Sp.Attackers Xatu, Swoobat, Sigilyph). Other choice would have been Lugia/Latios/Latias, but I was using a chick for my character and felt a tiny Adamant Mew made more sense as a companion. Yes, I put a lot of thought into it.

TL;DR I wouldn't say never for any Pokemon, but some are more unlikely than others to find a way onto the team. Maybe one of these days I'll choose to run an all unevolved team (stage 1 out of 3).

  • I'll use anything really, as long as I'm interested in it. But I don't really like using Pokemon that I dislike, so that's mainly Zebstrika and Lickilicky. Zebstrika has a plethora of reasons that I don't like it, but mainly, as far as in-game goes, I find it to be disappointing and boring all around. Lickilicky...I honestly just hate the name. -shrug-

That was "biased reasons I won't use Pokemon" with Luds thanks for reading.
