  • I mostly play The Binding of Isaac right now, but when I don't want to be assaulted with bleak, pixelated biblical imagery, I also enjoy playing Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel on my 360. Been playing as Athena a lot lately. I did manage to knock out a ton of achievements on Isaac the last couple weeks though. It was kick ass!

  • As I wait to get Yo-kai Watch and Fallout 4, I've been playing Yoshi's Woolly World, mostly with the nephew. It doesn't really bring anything new to table, but it's still rather fun to play, and has some imaginative mechanics (that should be used more often). Of course, the visuals are as cute as it gets. Just wished the boss fights had more variety, and were a little more challenging.

  • I'm currently playing one of the very few Shooting games I like, Warframe. Pretty damn good game actually. I quite like it.

Also, I shall be trading in Draqgon Age: Inquisition on the weekend so may have something new to play!

Still Disgaea 4, and I am slowly losing the will to live. I'm sitting at around 75% of the pirate ship parts...but I haven't found the Red Pirates yet. The RNG in this game can just **** off. The number of resets I've had to do now for pirates and pirate ship pieces is just ridiculous, and I HATE wasting time like this. Grinding, I can handle. What I can NOT handle is not getting anywhere after spending hours of resetting to get something I'm not getting. It's infuriating. It makes me want to just snap the game card in half and throw it out the window. RNG should not exist.

...on the plus side, with the exception of a few Rank 40 items, fun weapons, and special weapons, I'm pretty much done with the items. Just need to do about 700 item world floors - which should take around 3 hours - and discipline a few more enemies, which I'll save for NG+ so I can manipulate the odds of getting one a little more. If I can just find those damned Red Pirates I'll be looking at a smooth-ish grind to the finish. Hopefully.

I do not envy your endless struggle, Meloetta. At least, I hope it is not endless, for your sake. Is that the woes of a completionist?

I was lucky enough to be gifted a key for the new Star Wars: Battlefront game. I'm not a particular fan of shooting games, but I actually enjoyed it my first time playing. There are still some grievances, like spawning right into enemies when you're losing the battle, but I'm satisfied enough for what it is. The community complains a lot, thinking EA or DICE owes them free stuff for a shoddy release. Tch.

I had planned on playing Skyrim again to finish, but every time I leave my home (where I last saved) the game crashes. Still have to figure that one out. ~_~

  • Picked up Star Wars: Battlefront the other night so I've been playing that a bit. Also been doing some Halo 5: Guardians the past few weeks.

As far as single-player games go, Yoshi's Woolly World and Batman: Arkham Knight have been taking up my time. The former is freaking adorable and ridiculously creative - definitely an underrated release that hasn't nearly gotten enough attention. And the latter is the broken PC version, although I've had no issues with mine other than an Nvidia driver crash, which was unrelated to the game itself. Been running at a smooth 60 FPS too.

  • In addition to playing Earthbound, I've also been playing Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life lately. It's one of my all-time favorite games and I got the urge to play it yesterday and got caught up in it for like 4 hours, haha. So I've been playing it some more since then. <3

Pretty much, haha. Although I'm not much of a completionist, really: I won't go near difficult DLC (I'm looking at you, Dunwall City Trials!) and I have a lot of hidden games on my profile that I started but couldn't be bothered to finish...or rather, will finish eventually when I can muster up the time and resolve to play them again. I started Disgaea 4 just before Christmas last year, and I am just now getting around to it. But my life would be so much easier without platinum trophies. xD

It's enjoyable in its own fashion, and there is a certain amount of satisfaction upon finally completing long and/or difficult games...although the chances of my playing them again for at least three years is pretty slight. The more frustrating it is, the longer it'll be.

Small update: now sitting at just over 80% for pirate ship parts, found the Red Pirates after about an hour and a half of trawling an Archangels Staff I needed to level anyway, and picked up a few more fun weapons as a side effect of disciplining enemies. The resetting is pretty annoying, though...I spent a fruitless half hour getting nothing but Guitars from a Beastmaster earlier. 92 hours now. I predict (or hope) for completion at around 120 hours by the end of next week. I'll put off FFXIV leves and make this my 50th plat if I can; my sub expires on the 30th so I need to be careful.

Dragon Quest Heroes progresses slowly - it's more something I'm playing in-between to vent some frustration by beating the crap out of cute-ish monsters playing as a cast with assorted English accents - and I'm just about to start Resonance of Fate again. It's been about three years since I last played it, and it puts me in a Christmassy mood thanks to one of the chapters. It's an underrated gem of the last gen and I'm probably not going to shut up about it in here once I get stuck into it. Gun customization is a very involving process, after all~

I can relate to the first point, in a small way. I enjoy getting trophies and achievements just as anyone else would, but I usually obtain them by happenstance rather than actively going for them. I am a sucker for progression, though. Slap a level on my character and promise me pretty spells if I progress with them and that game has me wrapped around it's little finger, so to speak. DA: I, FFXIV (or any MMO, really), and even Pokemon come to mind.

    Resonance of Fate! Yes. I never got to finish it. It is quite challenging, at least from what I remembered. I had a difficult time getting used to the whole system, but you feel on top of the world when you hatch that strategy for that one fight you keep failing. 'You' meaning me, of course. I bought it around Christmas as well, so I understand the sentiment. Maybe I'll dust off my PS2 and finally set up the telly after living here for a year. {XD}

I've just been focusing on only Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon since I have a semi-major essay due after my Thanksgiving break so I don't want to get too carried away with video games, but I just downloaded Sword Art Online: Lost Song last night so hopefully I'll get to play that as well, soon :x

The best trophies are the ones you can get along the way, I think. Well, unless they're easily missable or require to do something irritating that means you won't progress in the game for ages because you just can't do it. But if they complement the game, they're great fun. Part of the reason I get so annoyed with JRPGs is that the trophy lists DON'T complement the game. Case in point: Disgaea 4 has a gold trophy for getting every item, and a silver for getting every pirate ship part. I've poured at least forty hours into both, which is easily quadruple the length of the story campaign...thus far. Trophies that artificially extend the life of a game, require multiplayer, or are luck based, make a game a nightmare and make me wish I wasn't so obsessive over them. I'll quit one of these days. I swear.

Yes, pouring in blood, sweat, and tears into a character and then watching them barrel through everything is one of the best parts of JRPGs! I was cackling like a maniac when my Masked Hero took out Land of Carnage Baal with a single hit, after I spent about ten hours preparing his equipment. It's moments like that which make grinding worthwhile. The end justifies the means <3

It is indeed a pretty challenging game I'd say, as it likes to throw difficulty spikes at you repeatedly by removing party members, and it requires perfection or patience. Usually both. That "one fight" for me has always been Caligula, and I am dreading getting to that point again...protecting the statue was bad enough leading up to it. Need to stock up on Hollow Point MG rounds and Molotov Cocktails, I recall those being quite effective. Once you can make grenades yourself the game opens up a bit, but before that...I don't know why I'm playing this again. xD

    Spoiler:
You have a good point there. I recently watched a random video of someone playing a Donkey Kong game. The levels involved collecting bananas and puzzle pieces and the puzzle pieces would spell out KONG, I think, and I imagine you received some sort of award for collecting them all. However, it's a side-scrolling game, so if you missed the puzzle piece there seemed to be no way to go back and get it without purposefully jumping off a cliff or letting a penguin throw a fatal watermelon on your head so you could start at the beginning again. I'm not really a fan of DK, but I would dislike having to suicide just to keep trying for a trophy - much like your resetting of your game. Having to reset sounds far worse, actually.

I remember making it through the Seraphic Gate in Valkyrie Profile: Silmeria multiple times. Farming and farming, going to other dungeons to retrieve the best release items just so I could make Freya the most BA member of my team. Thoroughly, and literally, delivering the Smackdown on all of the toughest bosses the game had to offer was absolutely worth all of those hours and completely justified Freya's adage "What a lamentable waste of time." It was glorious. How I love that game.

You will have to keep me up to date. Protecting the statue was incredibly difficult if my memory serves. I don't believe I got much further than that, however. I'll really have to start it again, although I secretly hope for a PC release (doubtful). I have many games to go through however, so as Rufus had ceaselessly declared... "this may take some time."

I got around to starting up SAO: Lost Song and despite the negative reviews, I think it's pretty enjoyable. It's a light game and really easy, nothing to take seriously but it's fun.

Also still playing Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon (which I am head over heels in love with) and I just erased my save data for X Version earlier today so, I plan on restarting that sometime soon (hopefully not too soon though because I have finals coming up...)
