I think he means that all the features you have implemented are already on HGSS/BW/B2W2 (overworlds, tiles) therefore making it the "better" option. Although he is wrong, I see where he is coming from. It would make it look better

Anyways, your graphics are great, except for a few edgy tiles (eg. Fairy gym tiles) and a few unfinished tiles. I suggest checking Diegoisawesome's triple layered tile hack, as it will improve your graphical aspect a lot. Good luck :)

The 3d sprites look really... out of place on the GBA.
Maybe you should stick to using BW sprites and BW backgrounds, as it looks less choppy and strange, especially on the 3rd screen.
Keep up what your doing tho!
