What are your greatest regrets from your time playing Pokemon? How would you have done things differently?

I deeply regret not saving my Leaf Green team from when I was I think 12. I still remember them. :( Lucian the shiny Charizard, Kiki the Persian, Ilya the Gyarados and Blitz the Jolteon. I wish I had ported them to my Diamond version!!! They were one of my favorite and most memorable teams.

Starting a new save file on various Pokemon games after making great progress just because I missed out on a particular mon or item.

Maxing out my team's affection with Pokemon amie in X/Y. If I knew those animations would be added before using a move I wouldn't have bothered.

Does buyers remorse count? I regret buying Black and White simultaneously back when they came out, especially since they got actual sequels just a couple years later.

I forgot about my Pokemon bank and it expired.... I don't even want to try remembering what I had on there (it was basically my pc for all games), but I know i had like seven shinies and a few legendaries too. It just sucks that I have to lose all of them like that, but I guess its my fault.

Not ever transferring some teams of mine that I am deeply proud of and are now lost forever, never to be regained :(

That part of pokemon has always kind of bothered me. What's the point of leveling your pokemon up and bonding with them only to just throw them out when a new game comes out or a new save file is needed? I know this is part of the pokemon experience and I know it sounds kinda melodramatic, but I think pokemon bank is a solution to the bleeding hole in our hearts xD

    So true DX

Another option to further explore would be multiple save files! That way I don't even need to remember to transfer them into the PokeBank and my little mons will be in games forever after ^_^

Hmm, multiple saves would be hard to pull off considering memory and wifi things, but i'm sure if we eventually get a new handheld console, more than one save will be guaranteed. However, i'd be very interested to see how an internet system would work on a multi save pokemon game.

Not keeping more of my Pokemon from older games.

I still have my very first Empoleon, he'll be 10 years old in September. But I wish I had kept more!

Oh, dang; that's very unfortunate. I'm might be wrong on this, but don't they hold onto our Pokémon for a while after our Bank expires, just in case we wind up deciding to renew?

Misplacing and losing both my original Pokémon Blue, Pokémon Yellow and Pokémon Silver cartridges.

I have no idea where they are to this day.

It'll definitely interesting. Hope it gets researched and developed eventually though!

Another regret I have is not ever beating FireRed and then trading it to a friend to get a Raikou and Tyranitar traded to my Pokemon Sapphire to beat the E4 and then proceeding to delete that file after beating the game. I traded my game for nothing :(

That's really ironic. I lost my original Red, Yellow and Gold Cartridges when I was 8 or 9 and found them like last month when we were moving my grandma outta her old apartment, they'd been under her couch for something like 8 or 9 years.

When I managed to successfully trick my parents into buying Pokemon Crystal for me... and then promptly felt guilty about tricking them and told them the truth. This caused them to return it to the store. And I never got to own the actual game... goddammit, younger me.

Also, there are a few teams I regret losing. I traded some Pokemon over to other people so I could restart my game, and then these Pokemon were lost forever when I had some nasty fights with those people and they went on to delete them because I, in an angry fit, said I didn't care what happened to them.

I worry about this all the time, because I have moments where my interest in Pokemon dies off for a few months at a time. They should have it so that it sends you a reminder e-mail or something when it's about to expire.

Has memory still been a big issue in recent games re: number of save files? I got the sense that GF gave that excuse at first, but at this point, it's better financially for them to stick with the one file per cartridge precedent because they get more sales that way (especially from people who hate deleting saves, like me). I'm not convinced that they would offer an extra save file on a new handheld console, even though it certainly seems like they should be able to have multiple save files memory-wise.

I have reset games multiple times with event legendaries (like Victini) and shiny Pokemon (such as my first shiny, a Swinub) on them. Sometimes on accident. Sometimes on purpose. Have a big sticker on my Omega Ruby cartridge saying "DO NOT RESET" as I have at least 5 or so shiny Pokemon on it.

How exactly did you trick your parents into buying you a Pokemon game?

Not my biggest regret, I'll talk about that one soon. But for now, here is my latest one.

Warning: this is from a nuzrun that I am very likely to document here. SPOILERS.
